| The
heat of the GT-R
is the Nissian twin-turbo. 2,568cc straight - six engine. Producing
280Ps@6800rpm, this twin cam, four valves per cylinder unit is the
ultimate development of the formidable engine used in the R33.
The new engine is lighter than that of the R33 and it delivers more torque with a quicker and smoother pickup from the lower rpm. The refinements in design have allowed the new GT-R to boost the maximum rev limit to a staggering 8,000rpm. |

To
make best of the engine's performance potential and raise the GT-R's
accelerative performance even further, Nissian have worked with the German
manufacturer (GETRAG)
to develop a brand new 6 - speed manual transmission. The gears are close
- ratio with a direct drive of 1:1 in 5th gear. The gear ratios make max
use of the engine's wide torque spread, delivering punchy acceleration
right up to 5th. The 6th is the overdrive ratio, which improves high -
speed cruising by reducing noise and fuel consumption levels.
