What is Skyline?

Well, Skyline GT-R is said to be the most popular sports car in Japan. This remarkable sports car is produced by  Nissan car company, Skyline is just a model name. Some people might recognise this car as R33 GT-R which is the same as Skyline GT-R.

The R33 is powered by a high-tech (intercooled) twin turbo 2.6 litre in-line six which produces 206@6800 rpm and 368Nm@4400 rpm. R33 VSPEC is driven through a complex 4WD system called (ATTESA E-TS Pro) which considers drive and brake forces and precisely distributes torque independently to each of the four wheels to ensure maximum grip in all conditions at all times.

The new R34 GT-R have used the MRS (Multi Road Simulator) computer to help identify any areas in the chassis requiring structural reinforcement. In order to keep the GT-R at a lean racing weight of 1,666kg, the designers have eliminated excess weight from all non-structural parts of the car. Despite the hefty collision safety features, the R34 is only 33kg heavier than the R33, this is mainly due to the installation of the ultra-light alloy road wheels, a super-small battery and the extra-light 6000 series aluminum of the bonnet.

The aerodynamic performance of the new GT-R is inherited from the pure-bred Nissian R390GT1 (Shown on the left), four of which entered and finished Le Mans '98 in the top 10.
