"My Dream For America by Nichole"
Our American flag is suppose to be a symbol for freedom, liberty, and
pride, but does America really represent these values? My dream for
America is not impossible, but makes you think about all the things we
Americans take for granted.

It shouldnt matter what color you are, whether youre a man or woman,
or your religious beliefs. Deep down we are all the same and have
feelings too. Everyday in America people are abused because of whats
on the outside. No one seems to look beyond that, and thats why so
many Americans are prejudiced.

Not only are people hurting others, but themselves as well. America is
filled with all kinds of drugs from alcohol, to cocaine, to ecstasy.
All these substances have one thing in common. Everyone of them kills
people each day. Why do people take things they know can hurt them?
The answer is because they can. Some drugs are legal, while others are
still obtainable. People that make these drugs are only killing others in
the end.

Some Americans dont know how good they have it until they see a
homeless man begging for food. Many people today are homeless, even
little kids. Its not uncommon to see a man holding a sign saying will
work for food. Although its sad, its true. There are people who live on
the streets scraping up money just to get a bite to eat.

The most recent event that tested us Americans was September 11, 2001.
Many innocent people were killed and loved ones lost. Children were left
without parents, and many people put their lives on the line. Weve all
lost some sense of security. People think twice before going away, and
have certain feelings toward other individuals. What some of us seem to
forget is we shouldnt hold every Arab person accountable for September
11. There are still some innocent victims at risk. Just because one person
of a certain background messed up, doesnt mean its the rest of their
faults. There are innocent children being harmed for someone else's
wrong doings.

My dream for America is quite simple. I want to see us Americans take
action in what we stand for. We need to put an end to racism, drugs,
homeless people, and terror. Most importantly, we all need to work
together!
