| In the shadow of Mount Taranaki the International WOMAD Festival of music, arts and dance returned to Aotearoa at the Brooklands Bowl in New Plymouth. The visiting artists were given a welcoming powhiri on a local marae by the Taranaki Maori people before the festival. For three days in March 14-16, 2003 a stunning lineup of over 300 performers from 15 countries joined with a strong lineup of local artists to present a festival that captured the energy of World music and culture that is universally known as Womad. Some of the local and international artists that fronted Womad Taranaki are shown here with web links or click here for lineup |
