A Southern Perspective on the history of The Late Unplesantness
or whatever else you want to call it;)
This is really my second attempt to come up with a format for this topic.  I hope that this will come out better than my earlier attempts.  Here I wish to present a compelling case that will defend the southern people and set the record straight on this war.  I understand that because of the nature of the internet that this will not be totally satisfactory.  I can only hope that somehow what you read here will compel you to search out further information on this conflict and seek the truth.  I will say here that I make no contention that the south was without its faults and weaknesses and that can only be expected from a civilization created by imperfect man.  However, I do claim that they were not evil and backward, as contemporary history has made them to appear.  Also, the grievances clamed by these people against the government of the United States were real and had merit.  I will present strong views about various topics here.  I fully intend to discuss war crimes committed by Federal troops and other issues.
Reader you must understand right now that I understand that there are no absolutes on this issue.  In other words, just because I claim that say the federals came to subjugate the south or, Shermans troops were butchers.  I understand that this was not true of everyone.  It is most definitely true that there were scores of men and officers in the north who were both honorable and good.  So when you see something that to you may think to be too much of an extreme, please give me the benefit of the doubt.  I certainly do not mind debate.  If you have a question, comment, or simply wish to discuss something; dont hesitate to
e-mail me.  If at first I dont respond, it is most probable that I will respond, or you get an error message, just keep sending messages and pestering  me until I respond.  I only ask that you refrain from name calling and hate messages.
