Shin-Jitsu:  Japanese for "The Truth"

One of the cornerstones of skoshiracing is to try and understand the vehicle dynamics both before modifications and after modifications.  The best way found to do this is by seeking "The Truth", to get to the truth you need good data and data analysis.

We utilize many methods of data acquisition from permanent gauge installs, portable accelerometers to funky things like yarn "Tufts".   We don't discriminate just because it is simple!   Once we have gathered enough data we crunch the data and try to establish a baseline of performance, with this baseline known, we are free to make modifications that can be measured.

Though we spend many hours taking data and crunching the numbers etc., we don't discount important things like how a modification "Feels" or how aesthetic it is.   Shoot, sometimes we even throw out all the numbers and just do a modification because it is fun or crazy.

Finally, we try not to fall into the trap of rejecting an idea because someone else does not believe in it, we won't let that stop us from giving it a try.  Instead of being negative, we follow this simple philosophy:  "It works unless it is proven that it doesn't work".
Race-Technology AP-22 performance meter, this is a sophisticated accelerometer type meter that can be set up to be an accurate Road Dyno.  It compensates for aerodynamics of the vehicle, rolling resistance, squat and vehicle weight.  The best feature is the interface to a PC so data can be downloaded into Excel for analysis.

Now this is one that we really like and it is cheep!  Radio Shack Indoor/Outdoor thermometer Intercooler gauge.  This simple thermometer can be set up to monitor the temperature of your intercooler.  This is a great way to know when to apply some water from your I/C sprayer or when to know not to hammer the throttle to prevent detonation.

How to construct a slant tubed water manometer  ( What Dat ?) This simple device can be used to make pressure measurements around your vehicle.  By knowing  the pressure you can determine many things grasshopper.
