| How we constructed a Slant Tube Manometer. Materials: 12 ft of plastic or vinyl hose 1/8th to in. Plastic or glass pipette with ml markings Mount for monometer, can be of metal or wood Syringe to act as reservoir Colored water (See Pictures for how to assemble) Most of these materials are available at an Industrial supply/surplus store. Cut the pipette to fit within the manometer mount from corner to corner. The pipette should be in the manometer mount at an angle of approximately 45 degrees. Cut pieces of tubing long enough to go from each end of the pipette to the edge of the manometer mount. Attach the syringe to the high end of the manometer with a short section of the tubing Use a small piece of Pipette at the edge of the manometer mount and attach the low end of the manometer to the small piece of Pipette. Make sure all the connections are tight then fill the manometer through the syringe with colored water. Connect the long piece of tubing to the small piece of Pipette. The manometer is now ready to use. Set-up the manometer in the car where you can easily view it, run the long hose out to where you want to make your pressure reading on the car. Remember to crack you windows so you get outside are pressure acting on the reservoir side of the manometer. That is it. CAUTION, we use this device only where traffic and road conditions make it safe to do so. |
