Peru was a fantastic spur of the minute trip I did in 1998. When it didn't snow in South America, and hence I was out of work with some free time on my hands. I found a fellow Canadian travel partner, Catherine, and away we went.

We traveled from Patagonia Argentina, Bariloche area into Chile and north into Peru.  We used nearly practically every mode of transport know to man at some point in the journey.

Highlights included:

the city of Aeroquipa during a 2 week long festival
the infamous 4 day hike on the ancient Inca trail up to the lost city of Machu Pichu
a boat trip out on one of the worlds' highest lakes, Lake Titicaca to spend a night on an island miles from any light pollution and any source of electricity or modern living.

I have a very extensive journal of this trip which I plan to post on the site in the future.

In the meantime, if anybody reads this and would like some helpful travel suggestions, I'd be more than happy to help. email me
