Lesson One - Part Four (Tea Leaves)

How Do You Prepare For a Reading?

Brew a large pot of tea and add the leaves directly to the water without the use of a strainer. Large leaves work the best in this situation. While drinking the tea you need to focus on a question you wish to have answered. You need to drink the tea until only the dregs remain, and swirl the cup three times in a direction away from yourself. Turn your cup over onto the saucer and hold your breath for three seconds. Upon turning it over, you'll see the leaves in your cup, reading for analysis. Remember that during the whole process your mind must be clear of all thoughts.

It's important that you use a traditional tea cup, not a modern mug. Tea cups tend to be wider and more shallow then a mug, which is usually fairly deep. It makes the interpretation of your tea leaves a lot easier.

How to Read the Symbols

Tea Leave reading is a highly personal and subjective process. One person may see an egg, while another sees a beetle in the same spot. Tea Leaf reading is very much like a Rorschach (Ink Blot) Test. Each individual sees something different. Therefore, you are the most qualified person to read your own tea leaves.

Keeping your mind clear, look for symbols amongst your leaves and jot them down on a piece of paper. With each symbol that you jot down, write down the first thing you thought of next to it. In the example shown below, you can see several symbols circled in pink. Can you identify each of them? If so, remember them as this question will appear in your homework! I've numbered them it easier when it comes to identifying each.

Noting where the handle sits on your cup is important as you want to start from here and work your way clockwise around the cup. This is important for the interpretation of some symbols, like the man listed further down the page.

Divide your cup into three sections; Rim, middle and base. You should be able to figure out where each of those sections lie by viewing the picture above, or simply grabbing a tea cup from your cupboard. Youll see that the majority of the dregs lie on the middle of the cup, then the base, followed by the rim. The first symbol you see represents your dominant character or someone near or influential. The middle section represents the near future. Both the rim and middle represents influences in your income. The base represents the final answer or conclusion.

Symbols

  • Lightening: Startling events, sudden insights
  • Man: A visitor of each gender, if close to the handle, someone close to you
  • Pig: A greedy or jealous person
  • Kangaroo: A travel, journey
  • Foot: Movement in love, career or location
  • Drops: Tears of sadness
  • Child: New idea; family
  • Box: You are about to receive a gift
  • Bee: Fruitful hard work

Along with those, we have seven rather deadly symbols (with the exception of two), that we see in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. There are:

  • Cross - trails and suffering
  • Club - an attack
  • Sun - great happiness
  • Acorn - windfall, unexpected gold
  • Falcon - a deadly enemy
  • Skull - danger in your path
  • The Grim - death

Well! That ends Januarys lesson. Follow the link below for your homework and remember, its not compulsory but I do recommend doing it! If you have any queries, comments or concerns feel free to contact me and Ill be happy to help you out.
