As part of the Computer Organization Course (ECE341) there is a design project component that is assigned at the end of the term. Students are encouraged to use all the knowledge that they have gained so far to make an interesting and unique project.

The desire to make the project a worthwhile endeavour was too great and after brainstorming and searching through several electronics and surplus stores we came up with the idea to build an automated checkers playing robot system. We chose the project knowing that it was extremely challenging when compared to what the status quo was.
