Sameer & Andrew Build a Radio

(a.k.a. Analog Design on a Budget)

Once again Sameer and Andrew were determined to outwit their competition. However, this time there was no starting point... everything had to be done from scratch. The mission: To build an AM Radio using the Superheterodyne receivermodel.

As part of the Electronic Circuits Course (ECE331) there is a design project component that is assigned at the beginning of the term. Although each group has the entire term to work on the project we decided to start right away... or rather get stuck right away.

Needless to say the first month was spent simulating and designing a mixer, not to mention figuring out how to implement such abstract concepts such as modulation and carrier frequencies with discrete circuit elements.
