Founding Members

Ele-Jan Saaf is a Dutch water management consultant residing in Islamabad, Pakistan. He is active with development, financing and brokerage of projects for privatisation of utilities and Public-Private Partnerships in the water and environmental sector in the Middle East and South Asia. Mr. Saaf undertakes short-term and long-term assignments for technical assistance and sector work in the utilities and water resources sector.

Mr. Saaf has managed and procured projects and programmes in excess of ten million Euros in countries ranging from Romania, Moldova and Armenia to Egypt, Yemen, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan and Pakistan. He has worked with/for the EBRD, World Bank, KfW, ADB, EU, NEDA, UNDP, IFAD, IUCN, Senter and several national and local governmental institutions. Mr. Saaf has a Masters Degree in Public Administration.

Nawabzada Sohail (S.K.) Kiani is a Canadian-Pakistani who has spent over 20 years abroad in Canada/USA/Singapore/Switzerland and the Arabian Gulf. His career is that of an Investment Banker, VP of Merrill Lynch Investment Bank and a VP of Royal Trust Bank of Canada. Over the years he set up several private companies that were spun-off to go public on the Canadian ( Toronto) and NASDAQ Stock exchanges and has a lot of experience with private Equity deals through Switzerland and Lubuan ( Malaysia).

Also as a consultant he has conceptualised and orchestrated several strategies for SMEs (Small medium Ent.) through the Canadian Govt.bank FBDB, including working on a few CIDA and IDB (Islamic Devt bank) financed projects particularly in securing exporters credit/forfeiting financings. Mr. Kiani studied through the Cambridge University System (UK), Amherst College and the University of Massachusetts from where he holds a BA/BS in Economics plus several Graduate level courses from McGill University ( Montreal). He is a ASEAN/Middle East expert for some time. Additionally he is the ASIA-PACIFIC advisor to the (Globe Foundation---www.globe.ca) one of the premier Environmental conferences in the World.
