A Skeptron is shaped by his milieu, and his mileu determines whatever
identity he would present to others. Our 31st anniversary marks
the beginning of a long process of shaping one's identity, and in
this light, every Skeptron should realize that the making of a real
Skeptron takes more than just being ready to take risks. It takes
more than just courage and competence. The making of a real Skpetron
involves a certain characteristic that a Skpetron would only know
only by immersing himself with the distinct Akhro's culture.
Being a Skeptron is not acquired overnight. It
is something that slowly permeates the persona of the individual
while shaping his own outlook in life. This is where our pride rests
upon. The pride of a Skeptron rests not on his own credentials.
It does not rest his status in the society nor in the achievements
that he has amassed. The Skeptron pride lies in his attitude. It
lies in his desire to stand out and be a person who matters. This
is his goal; and this defines what he wants to be.
The problem lies on how he sets his goal. it also
lies on how he carries his pride. And more so, it lies on how he
relates with other people. Great people brag about great things;
and so they say. This is where the Skeptron fails to project himself
properly. He mistakes bragging for pride, and this makes him less
distinguished than he is supposed to be. We call this attitude problem,
and is the disease that comes along being a Skeptron. The disease
corrupts him to a point where he loses touch of other people. What
is worse is that it also makes him lose touch of himself. This is
where he forgets his identity.
The Skeptron identity is a fusion of two extremes.
We can much on fishballs along a filthty side street while on the
way to a five-star hotel to attend a black-a-tie affair. We can
easily relate with intellectual elite on the most complex problems
of society and at the same time enjoy conversing with a street vendor
regarding the same economic problems from the eyes of the poor.
We are amused by the plush lifestyle of the elite and at the same
time engrossed in the plight of the destitute. We see things not
only from one side of the fence. We see both sides of the fence.
This is what makes a Skeptron unique. This is what
sets us apart from other greek-lettered fraternities. This is what
gives rise to the Skeptron identity. The only thing matters for
a Skeptron is neither cheers nor admiration. It is neither cheers
nor humiliation. What matters for a Skeptron is the formation of
his own identity as an individual who thinks, acts, and lives according
to Alpha Kappa Rho beliefs and doctrines.
This is the Skeptron identity. This is what matters
to him; and this is what makes him matter.
Happy 31st Anniversary...Keep the fire burning...Long
live Alpha Kappa Rho !
