| Like the pictures, this page only works if I have input from others. So please, please, please, jot down a few of your most favorite Kilowan memories and send them to me at [email protected]. I will appreciate it and so will the many others who visit this site. I have the list of alumni that was complied at the 65th reunion, but I do not have the space to display it here (nor do I think people appreciate their personal information displayed on the internet). However, if you are looking to reconnect with old camp pals, email me with the years you were at Kilowan, and I will send you the names and addresses of those who atteneded the same years. The following memories have been taken from the 65th reunion program. |

| Carma (Ottaway) Koch, 1941 The swimming "pool" was full of waterdogs, so before camp started we had to take strainers from the kitchen and we put large tubs in the "boats" and caught the critters. When we had a load we would take them to shore and dump them in a burning pit because none of those little girls would have gone swimming ever. We had a terrible thunder and lightening storm during the night, so we had to get all the girls up and go the the lodge to sing songs to keep the girls from being so scared. Pattee (Fox) McConnell, 1963-1967 On a midnight hike, we set off alarms around the Taylor's pond down the road from camp. Sirens and lights went off - pretty exciting! Loved Sliding Rock, Suicide Trail, and the constant singing. (The songs I learned I sand to our daughter as she grew up.) The hot chocolate from breakfast burned our tongues but was delicious. Tracy Smelser, 1970-1979 My favorite memory is of Friday night campfires. It was always the highlight of the week as well as the saddest part. We all knew that the next day would be the last. All of the songs and the s'mores gave me such a warm feeling. It is amazing how attched to the counselors we would get in just one week. Another great memory is of the polar bear badge. I think we would get up at 6AM and go get in the pond for 30 seconds, That was so miserable! I can still remember scraping the plates off at meal time and singing afterwards. I can still smell the dining hall! |

| A friend is someone who knows the song in your heart and can sing it back to you when you have forgotten the words. | |||||||||||||||||
