2004 December Comic Book Heroin Aiko This doll was not made. One theory as to why is this: The dolls has the same name and birth date as Japan's young princess. The Aiko doll is dressed very unlady-like and is modeled after a comic book character who was raised as a boy so she could come into power and/or inherit the throne(?). In Japan, a woman cannot inherit the throne, when she marries she becomes a commoner. In Japan there was a stir of people wanting the law changed so that young Aiko may one day inherit the throne herself. | |

Theory Two: This is Lady Oscar from the comic and anime called "The Rose Of Versailles." As I mentioned above, this character was raised as a boy so she could one day become a leader(?). You can see the Aiko doll looks very much like Lady Oscar. There may have been copyright infringement issues with the Takara Calendar Girl doll being made. Whatever the case, I am disappointed that I will not have a complete 2004 Calendar Girl doll set.
P.S. You can still send in the 11 coupons for the 2004 Premium Miss Japan doll. |
