The Basics of Skateboarding
The following are simple instructions for people who just started skateboarding, so here are the things you must learn before attempting any difficult tricks.

The first thing you have to find out is your stance, either goofy footed or regular. The easiest way of doing this is to step onto your board on a small hill, such as a driveway. If you have your right foot at the front you are goofy footed, if you have your left foot at the front you are regular. Switch stance, is a term used for the opposite way that you would naturally skateboard with, so if you are naturally regular footed and you are attempting to perform a trick goofy footed, you are skating switch. Fakie, is the term used for when you are riding backwards, and nollie is when you are riding forward, and you perform a trick off your nose, this might be a little confusing at first but you'll learn it eventually.

Now, it's time to learn how to push off and ride on your board without falling down, and trust me, the first few days of skating are full of cuts and bruises, so keep at it and don't get discouraged! Find a small hill and start practicing standing on your board, keeping your balance, and riding down the hill until you get the hang of keeping your balance and riding at moderate speeds. Now, you should find some flat ground and starting moving by pushing off with one of your feet, which is usually your back foot, if you push off with your front foot, that is considered as pushing "mongo".

Now that you can have mastered pushing off and riding at moderate speeds, a simple trick you can learn is the "tic tac", which refers to the skater moving the nose back and forth by putting most of your weight on your tail, lifting the nose into the air and making it pivot with the back foot. It sounds a bit difficult but is actually very easy.

Now that you have mastered the skateboarding basics, you are ready to try the
ollie.
