| Warren Township Park and Trail I hit this park in Oct of 02, the park is small and if you ask the locals about it they will tell you it sucks. Well it doesnt suck but it is not the best. Its crete which is a plus and it is pretty smooth, but for a street skater it is lacking and for an experianced bowl rider it is a little tame. If you want to just do some mellow riding or are just starting out it will be good for you. I plan on hitting it again for some pics. The lowdown is they have got three mellow bowls, one with some steep weird ass pyramid in the middle, some nice smooth ledges, a rail or two and a pyramid for the street guys . Check the review section at Death-Grip for some pics for now and another review. Now the trail section I just hit a few weeks ago and I was excited about the idea of a skate trail. Well what is a great idea turned out to be very lame. There are a few 3' spines, some grind boxs and a pyramid, probably a grind rail or two but for some reason I just cant remember any. My problem with this is it is only about 150 yrds long, maybe a little more, and they just place the ramps and boxes here and there. Its just a wide sidewalk with some skate stuff. Plus the spines have some weird ass wide square coping that unless you are riding some 169's you wont lock in on. Since the spines are only a couple of feet wide you cant grind them anyway, stalls only here. Part of my problem is that I think of trail and I am thinking woods, hills , banks and stuff like that. Have a section where part of it turns into a ditch, crete banks on both sides of the trail, a little hill that you can bomb with a big bank at the bottom. How about a fucking snake run that would be cool The ideas are endless but these guys fell way short. |

| Antioch Skatepark I live in this town and there aren't enough bad things I can say about the park. We can start out by saying it is only 7000 sq ft, or that they allow bikes in a place so small or that they tried to cram as much crap into this little space as possible. How about that even though the place is small they still have a corner that has nothing in it and no way to really use it or the train tracks that run next to the park and cover the park in dust by the mid summer. The concrete base is wavy and bumpy and the worst intended to skate surface I have seen. I dont know if they enforce this but you are supposed to register at the park district to skate. Here is what they have to skate if you are interested, two small rails, two banks with a pyramid with a box inbetween the banks. There is a 6' mini that has a ramp with a rail that hooks up to one of the decks. That ramp will shoot you off to a flybox that has a 1/4 on the other side. Next to the flybox is also a spine. This park is an example of towns putting a ban on skating in commercial areas and then saying hey we gave you a place to skate be happy. I say Fuck You Antioch your parks sucks and after the novelty wears off it will be as empty as the head of whoever planned this piece of shit. This waste of money is located next to the Metra station in Williams Park. |
