SOUTHLAND KENNEL ASSOCIATION
ABOUT SKA
Southland Kennel Association is Southland's All Breeds Kennel Club - affiliated with The New Zealand Kennel Association. Our grounds, Southland's Exhibition Centre, can be found at Kennington just 5 minutes North of Invercargill.

SKA was founded in 1934. In 1964 SKA moved to purpose  built clubrooms in Lindisfarne Street, Invercargill (now Southlands Dog Training/Obedience Club base) before expanding membership and activities necessitated the move to the larger venue at Kennington.

Dianne Tyssen has written an excellent article on the History of SKA featuring in the NZKC Gazette in 2000. Dianne has kindly allowed us to reproduce this article on our
History Page. Check it out it's a great read!

A lot of work has been done by committee and members to get our current Exhibition Centre and grounds up to the standard it is today. We have 2 Championship Shows a year and in recent years have held a Benefit Show in conjunction to help finance our upgrades. We also run regular Ribbon Parades and Show Training Classes.

Our membership is currently around 180 and we enjoy good support from all over the country for our Championship Shows.
