Biographies The Gladstones Originally, Matt and Julian were in a
metal/rock/alternative band called Mailbox Heroes. Julian got sick of it
and began jamming with Nate (trumpet) Pat (trombone) and Matt (drums).
They decided to pursue more horns and a bassist. Using a message board and
word of mouth, they found Thatcher. He played trumpet and was in search of
a band (he was currently jamming with some other guys). They got together
and jammed, and liked what they heard. Julian quit MBH to continue playing
ska. Matt left MBH a month later as well. They began writing music and
playing as a four-piece because things didn't work out with Nate. Still in
search of a bassist, they found Dan. He wasn't that great, and was left
behind. Thatcher, Matt, Julian, and Pat seemed to be the core players and
stayed strong and writing. In July 2000, roughly 4 months after beginning
the "band", they found Chris. They found him by placing a flier up at
Guitar Center. Chris at one time played in a punk-ska band called 'The
Mondaines'. He practiced with them three times then played two gigs with
them. Chris was extremely talented and caught on quickly, as well as
provided the band with a fresh new sound. In September 2000, things seemed
to not work out with Chris, and it ended up with him not being in the band
anymore. That was Chris Rose, but then we had Chris A. from Open 24 Hours
playing with us. He's was playing temporarily, and we thank him. The band
in November 2000 found Jon Winkles to play bass. Instrument:
