| Welcome Back, Moes October 6, 2009 by Moe MyGod Welcome back, welcome back, welcome baaaack!!!! Hello to all my fans out there, it is I, the Great Moe MyGod, back again on Team MOE (OK so as in fans I mean 2....and by 2 I mean my kids...who I tell after every game that daddy scored like 4 goals, in a 2-1 loss, LOL). Anyways, lets get back to reality. It's been over a year and a half I would say since you last heard from me. So I will try to do a recap of the events since last we spoke: So lets see, last time I played, we had a few, to say the least, MOES drop off our team (Moe Foe, Diggity, Bailey, D.Lawn, Pasta to name a few). The hardest one was Moe Pasta, our goalie who could only play half a season, as I'm sure you all know, its hard to replace a good goalie out there. So we searched for a while and decided that we would call upon an old Moe, Moe Killer to help fill the pipes, since he said he would come out to almost every game, which is what we needed. As it turned out, they hard part was getting a full team together that had paid for the season. And to show how desperate we were, Moe Power had posted a "help wanted" ad on RED FLAG DEALS looking for a player, and someone actually responded. So with about 5-7 regular MOES gone, and new ones in, it would be a fun new season. As it turned out, it wasn't THAT bad as we thought, as since we still had MOE LOVIN & SIGNEUR on our team leading the way and putting up points to help us, we finished with a record of 9-7 (better then the season b4 that's for sure). But with new line mates, it was hard to everyone to click like we had in the past and in the end we lost out in the playoffs as we lost the first game, and you have to win both really to move on. So that was the end of that experiment. Now during that season, they was rumblings going on about a new mWo (Moe World Order) forming up and things would/might be different. As it would happen, things did change at the end of the season and during the off season break. And the inevitable did happen, The END of the MOES. As it would see the team split apart, with half of the team forming a NEW team Moe, while the others doing the same. The new Team Moe would have Moe Diggity, Bailey, Lovin, yo'mama, Foe, & Skeeto. The rest of the new team would be filled with friends of the new team rep, Moe Foe. So on this team you had some very high power players/point getter's. Now you might think then that this team would be good, but it turned out somewhat that having to many star players was maybe the downfall, as the new players seemed to be individual players, so not a lot of team chemistry was working out. Everyone would rush up with the puck, leaving no defence. So this new team didn't work out quite as well as some would have thought. As for the other team (the Chins aka Team Silverbacks), well they kept some of the players from last season and filled out there team with their friends. And it seemed that it REALLY work out for them, as they cruised to winning the season without a problem, then made it to the semi finals but lost out there. Not bad I guess. After that season, The Silverbacks have since stayed together (well with some players leaving and coming i guess) and kept on playing, and still are. The new team Moes was a little different. As Moe Bailey & Diggity left the team, and with Moe Shun joined up on a new team (DONS KINGS) as add ons if you can believe it. Well as for these two teams, the new Moes (now known as MEN-YOUKS) team worked out pretty well and went pretty far I hear. As for the team of DONS KINGS, lets just say it was a humbling experience for the 3 Moes, and will never EVER happen again. And here we are today, 3 teams playing outta Scarborough Ice Sports, all sporting 1/3 of the old team Moe. Now this new team of 16 Guys Named Moe if surely different, as we have had to ask the league to help fill out our open spots on the team before season started. So we now have some brand new faces on the team, so old Moes back together, and some guys that have played with before and last season with. We have JARED, no not the subway guy, as this guys much better looking, not to sound gay or anything (taken from last weeks QOTW). We have a guy who works for Harley Davidson and someone who works for the EDGE radio station (still waiting and hoping to hear some plugs for our team) and just tonight, my "cousin" Dave Springett joined our team with a friend. Know I've known Davie for a very loooong time, and know that he played some junior hockey, so I was thinking and telling Moe Diggity & Bailey "Oh ya guys, my cousin can play, he pretty good, and a great guy to have around the dressing room, drink beers with, hell he even likes playing the video golf" (now with got our foursome). So when it was our turn to hit the ice, as I paired up with Davie on defense, I was thinking this should be good. The Silverbacks come down on a rush on us, and the guy is coming at Davie, I think he's either going to stop him dead or take the puck away. What happens wasn't pretty, as the guy made a move, Davie was caught flat footed, and the guy goes right around Davie and scores the second goal. All I can think about is "Oh great, Diggity & Bailey are thinking 'This is the guy Phil was raving about and that happens, wonderful thanks Phil!!'" But as it turns out, Davie just had some rust to work out as he's been off playing hockey for a year or two. So it will be quite a learning curve for us all as we get to know how each of us plays and works with each other on the ice. As for last nights game, lets just say it was another game on that curve. Some of us we actually really looking forward to play this game, as you would think you would never hear that for a 11:30 pm game. As we were playing Team Silverbacks. So before we got onto the ice, the old Moes got to chit chat with the Chins and others on the team about how things are going and good to see you, and blah blah blah. Well all those good feelings and happy thoughts of days long ago came to an abrupt halt about 10 seconds into the game as I was just getting seated on the bench when team Silverbacks scored. Ah crap, I thought, please don't let this be how the game will turn out. Well it ended up it did as the score shows, 7-2. Now I will say this, it really was mostly all of one guy on there team, #28. Now there is no way this guy should be in this league, that's my opinion and a couple of others, as this guys was good, really good. He was flying everywhere and could seem to do anything he wanted. Without him on the team, woulda been a totally different game. This guys is a c-B player for sure. But hey what are you going to do, but talk about it all like we did in our dressing room after the game while drowning our loss with beers. So lets see, 2 games now for this new team of MOES, with scores of 7-3 and 7-2. Hmmm is it just me, or does it seems this will be a loooooooong season of learning. I hope not, and I hope we start clicking soon. I guess time will tell. Until next time, this is Moe MyGod signing off. Quote of the week: "Oh, yes he could... He's only 15 and he's already filling his whole wastebasket with tissuel!" - Dave when told by Tiff The Waitress that his son wouldn't be able to "keep up" with her. |
