| An Ugly October October 29, 2008 by Moe Diggity This has been an ugly October in more ways than one. It snowed a couple of days ago (we haven't even had Halloween yet!). People lost about a third of their investment portfolios in the stock markets during the month. And after winning their first two games of the season, the Moes have lost their next four games. All of the losses coming in -- you guessed it -- October. Despite playing against one of the top teams in the division, the outlook was promising as we had nearly a full team show up for the game. Joe Macneil didn't show up because he was still suffering from a broken skate. And Moe Bailey boycotted the game when he found out they'd be handing out free chocolate milk before the game instead of beer. While this overtime loss could be attributed to bad refereeing (a too many men penalty should have been called as it seemed the guy that took off from centre ice on the shorthanded breakaway was fed the puck by the guy that replaced him on the bench), starting the season off with two wins and then losing the next four games can only be attributed to one thing: Let's flash back to Moe Foe's momentous dressing room speech after our September 24th win over the Greyhounds... "Guys! This team f***ing rocks! Now, we want to make sure we take it easy on the other teams because the last thing we need is for the league to bump us up to the B Division." It seems his words were taken literally. Hey Moe Foe, I think we're safe from being thrown in with the semi-pros in B. Can you can tell everyone to start trying again? Score: Mr Sub 5 - Moes 4 |
