| Moes victimized by a short bench October 24, 2008 by Moe Diggity I could have sworn we signed up to play Wednesday nights this year, yet for some odd reason we had a Friday night game on our schedule. My original thoughts were that that there was no way I'd be attending this game. But due to many other players also having prior commitments, I knew we were going to have a very short bench. I weighed my options and finally came to the realization that my team needed me. Oh, not because of my mad skillz on the ice. They could do without those. But rather, my teammates needed me because it was my turn to bring beer to the game. We were playing the Victims who we've gotten to know fairly well over the past several years. Our games have always been pretty close, so with the 'stacked' team we have this year I thought they'd be easy pickins. Stacked was a bit of an understatement as we started off with just seven skaters. Some had prior commitments, like I said before. Moe Foe and his brother had a wake to attend due to a death in the family. Our condolensces go out to his family. And Moe Lovin and Moe Yo'Mama weren't able to attend due to Moe Yo'Mama's engagement party falling on this night after he finally decided to take the plunge with his long-time girlfriend. My condolensces, er, I mean, congratulations go to the lovely couple. I looked down the empty bench and thoughts of the late-arriving Chin-mobile pulling in with five, well, four-and-a-half, skaters in tow crossed my mind. But those days were long gone. Dave Maloney arrived a little late so we temporarily had eight skaters, but that quickly dropped back down to seven again after Joe Macneil broke a skate that he apparently should have fixed a few games ago. In the end, the short bench took its toll on the Moes as we fell to the Victims by a score of 6-4. On the bright side, no one was thirsty after the game.
