| Charity Poker Tourney Results November 23, 2008 Thank you to everyone that participated in our 2nd Moes 4 A Cure Charity Poker Touranment as part of our 4th annual fundraiser for Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. The Wyndham Garden Toronto Hotel was a great venue to host our event at and the Fox & Fiddle Pub management and superb staff were kept busy feeding our participants and keeping them quenched throughout the evening. The field consisted of several familiar faces from last year's event as well as several first-timers who heard about the tourney from various websites and internet forums such as the Toronto Poker Meetup Group, PokerForum.ca, CraigsList, RedFlagDeals and Kijiji. The evening started off with a brief performance by a special guest, 16-year-old 2007 Extreme Card Manipulation champion Max Vlassenko, showcasing his unique mastery of a deck of cards. As someone pointed out, the tourney participants didn't have to worry as Max was just there to entertain and wouldn't be sticking around to play any Texas Hold'em. Once again, Josh Leichner and his crew of dealers did a wonderful job keeping things moving and running the show once it was time for the cards to be dealt. In the end, over $7,000 was raised from the tourney itself, putting us well towards our goal of raising $10,000 for JDRF during this year's fundraiser. Congratulations to our top seven finishers, Ben Wong, Ken Yip-Chuck, Gary Mirsky, Steve Manz, Bryan Hook, Kevin Kebabdjian and Mark Vidov who all finished "in the money". |
