The Basics	Courteney Bass Cox was born on June 15, 1964 in Birmingham, Alabama.
Family	Courteney's parents, Richard Cox (a contractor) and Courteney Copeland divorced in 1974 - they both remarried a couple of years later. Courteney has three older siblings: Dottie Pickett, Virginia and Richard.
Childhood & Education	Courteney passed her highschool years at Mountain Brook High. Then she left her large Alabama family to study architecture at Mount Vernon College, Washington D.C. but, not satisfied with her life the way it was, she left the school after only a year for New York and its acting opportunities.
Career Before Friends	Modeling opportunities, though, came first for our pretty brunette and she was hired by the Ford Agency, NY. Encouragement by her music agent boyfriend led her to taking voice/acting lessons to conceal her Alabama accent. Then, she left magazine, romance covers and commercial modeling work behind for a 1984 walk-on on the soap opera, As The World Turns. An on-stage dance with Bruce Springsteen for the music video, Dancing In The Dark, followed that year. The next year, at age 21, Courteney debuted in series television with Misfits of Science and Codename: Foxfire and in film with Down Twisted. A string of movie and television appearances followed.
Her Hobbies	Courteney is known for her off-camera love of purchasing and renovating homes for resale, successfully flipping four properties in a decade. She also is a self-taught handywoman and also a writer of a household-hints column for Jane magazine.
