| 6 Figures is an independent group of individuals wanting to further their understanding and respect for the Playback Theatre form. The name "6 Figures" comes from the number of players that are usually on stage during a performance. We strive to provide the best theatrical enrichment possible through stories and emotions told by none other than we the people. Everyday stories from everday lives - that's Playback Theatre. 6 Figures Playback Theatre is an experience above all others. An interactive form of improvisational theatre that honors and respects the stories of people, no matter how big or how small. It attempts to bring communitites together to celebrate and experience our uniqueness and commonalities as individuals. It is one of the the most unexpected, original, entertaining, and enjoyable experiences in theatre today. Conceived in 1975 by Jonathon Fox and Jo Salas in upstate New York, Playback Theatre is now practiced and enjoyed all over the world in countries like Australia, Finland, Japan, Israel, India, Africa, Germany, France, and Brazil, among many others. It is popularly used in hospitals, prisons, juvenile homes, abuse centers, corporate training, and other social situations in which the community participates freely. It is a useful tool for affirming people's livelihood and gives them a chance to speak up and tell their own story. Playback Theatre is definately a community based involvment - made for and practiced with communities all around the world. |
