Palace of the Emerald Buddha
Wat Phra Kaeo, is considered to be Thailand's holiest temple as it is the home to a little jade statue known as The Emerald Buddha. I wasn't able to get a picture of it, but the palace itself is quite large with beautifully decorated temples. The word "wat" means temple, and there are a lot of them here in Bangkok.  At just about every temple you will find a number of tuk tuk drivers ready to take you to a variety of silk and gem factories.
This is the Standing Buddha (under construction) and is 60 plus feet tall.  An impressive work layered in gold leaf.

When you hear, just hear.
When you see, just see.
Wen you touch, just touch.
When you know, Just know.

Well, I won't bore you guys with historical stuff, but I will say that I hope the rainy season ends soon so I can get to the beach and highland areas to do some serious elephant trekking. As far as the city goes, I think it will take a year just to figure out Bangkok. Things are going well, but I haven't learned much Thai yet.  Next weekend I go on my first field trip to the River Kwai.
In Thailand, when you go to the movies everyone stands for the National Anthem.

Motorcycles can go anywhere, even on side walks and seem to always have the right of way.

Many people wear surgical masks (thinking it will protect them from the pollution)

Security gaurds will salute you every time you walk by, but don't ask me why.
