It started in September, 1999 and ended up at the Forte Grand Ballroom in December.
My group was bored with the usual picnics at the park, swimming either in Jumeirah or Mamzar, fishing or discos until the wee hours of Friday when the Maktoum Bridge goes up and we had to take the alternative Garhoud or Shindaga. It's ballroom time - tango, cha-cha, boogie and swing. Late night practices in one of our group's flat or at our Tita Belinda's dhow (yes, the local dhow, swinging to the beat of McArthur's Park while cruising at the Creek).
At the Dreamland. It was simply fabulous!
Hatta Hills, a friend and a Wrangler jeep. Spent one sunny Friday with a Sri Lankan colleague, contemplating and dune bashing. After a hard four-wheel drive, we had to look for one of Hatta's blue-colored pools. Why don't you stare at those age old hills! As if, it was "Somewhere in Time", ala Jane Seymour and Christopher Reeve.
At the Wild Wadi Water Entertainment Complex, Jumeirah Beach. Until you've been there, you haven't done it........superb water fun like slides, falls, surfs, baths etc. The Dhs. 90 entrance was not enough to discourage us to visit this world-class water entertainment complex just beside the equally famous landmarks - the Jumeirah Beach Hotel and the Burj Al Arab.
