Labour & Birth Doula
A professional labour doula often sees her clients for 2 or 3 prenatal visits during the last trimester.  During these visits, she will help you develop a birth plan and obtain any perinatal information that you may need in order to feel prepared for your upcoming birth.  She will also introduce massage and positions for a healthy labour.
Once you are in labour, she will come to you at home (or meet you at the hospital) when you feel the need for extra support.  She will stay with you throughout your labour and birth providing information, suggestions and comfort measures to ease your labour. In the event of a cesarean section, she will support you and your partner before surgery, in the O.R. if allowed by hospital policy and assist you with bonding and breastfeeding in the recovery room.
Your doula  will visit you 1 more time following birth and provide you with a birth story from the doula's perspective as a keepsake.

Isn't that my partner's job?
Many couples find that the presence of a doula actually enhances the father's role. The father can devote himself to doing what he does best: loving his child's mother. The doula's educational information and physical comfort suggestions rid him of the burden of being a walking encyclopedia of birth knowledge and allow him to participate in the birth of his child in a comfortable and comforting way.

Cost: $800, most commonly in 2 installments

Post-Partum Doula
The postpartum doula is a woman who provides in-home care to the mother and family in the transitional time following birth.  Her non-judgmental, nurturing care is focused primarily on the mother, looking after her physical and emotional needs and encouraging bonding, breastfeeding and rest for both mother and baby. This may include massage, cooking, cleaning or simply caring for babies while Mom rests.
The postpartum doula may come every day for a few hours, a few times a week or just provide support on the first day home.  She may also come and help care for the baby(ies) at night so the mother can rest in between late night feedings.

Cost: $20 per day hr (7am-7pm) $25 per night hour(7pm-7am)  Or PPP (Post Partum Package) $700
Post Partum Package includes:
~10 night hrs
~25 days hrs
