The Sisters of Battle

"In the long night of the Trolloc Wars, when dreadlords crept from the darkness to unleash their foul weaves of destruction upon the world, the Green Ajah stood ready to thwart them. Long did we stand on the ramparts of Blightborder, and brace the world against that affront to nature. When Tarmon Gaidon is loosed upon the world, we stand ready. We are the Battle Ajah. We are the Green."

Alesura
Alesura Oshana Torinoga:

A young, junior Aes Sedai, yet showing great promise, Alesura Sedai is Sheinaran by birth, born of servants in the lord's keep at Fal Matsu. Alesura originally had no ambitions in life beyond that of serving Lady Damanisa well. Accompanying her lady on a visit to the Court at Fal Moran, Alesura was immediately taken note of by Rigan a'Vorhan, who was staying as a guest of King Tienul Harada, before she and her party continued north on an inspection of the Blightborder. Directed to travel to Tar Valon with all due haste, Alesura was swiftly enrolled as a novice. Her time as a novice was short, and she had an equally brief period of Acceptance, before choosing Green. Alesura is considered a fine prospect by the Green Ajah. She has an unusual deftness in weaves of Fire, as well as Water. Alesura has three warders.
    • Jozan si Buzanere
Jozan Gaidin is a former blacksmith and weapons-maker from Odhess in Saldaea. Unusual for a warder, he wields a massive, deadly war-hammer in the stead of a sword. He follows the Way of the Blade.
    • Lucis Dannone
Handsome and talented, Lucis Gaidin is the son of a Mayener lord, one of the hordes of Second Lords and Ladies. He is a talented harpist, and a close companion to Aidan Corihan.
    • Aidan Corihan
A yellow-haired Andorman, Aidan Gadin is Alesura's third warder, as well as close companion to Lucis. Originally a scholar come to research in the Tower Library, he became an intimate of Lucis Dannone, and was bonded by Alesura. He is deadly proficient with his sword, but prefers his quills.

    Alesura's Personal Page

Avallin
Avallin ti Tsanmallen:
The gray-haired Avallin Sedai is Malkieri, one of the bare handful of Malkieri Aes Sedai that still survive, along with her sister, sister in truth, Diseyne ti Tsanmallen of the Red Ajah. Avallin is a senior, respected member of the Green Ajah, and she has a small coterie of Greens who dote upon her like a mother. Avallin was appointed to command the delegation of Aes Sedai and Tower forces that were dispatched to aid Malkier in its hour of need, which ultimately arrived too late. Her open criticism of the Amyrlin's decision to conceal the very attempt earned her the enmity of the Amyrlin, Elsbedhe Bodwell, which ultimately resulted in Avallin's exile from the Tower. Avallin brought herself to Cairhien, where she bided her time by seeking out girls who could channel and chivying them on their way to Tar Valon, many of whom are those who revere her as daughters. She recently returned to the Tower, yet does not involve herself in public affairs. Avallin has two warders.
    • Jans aParhan
Jans Gaidin is very old, with barely a wisp of white hair on his head and a spare, wiry body which seems fashioned from leather and sinew. Bonded to Avallin for most of his life, he would plant a dagger in the neck of anyone who even thinks of disrespecting his bondholder. Rumour has it that Jans was once a Murandian Prince, but he has been a warder for so long no one is quite sure. Knowing his life is near its end, he fills his days training his successor, Ector Robanes, to ensure the continued safety of Avallin Sedai.
    • Ector Robanes
A young reed-slender Tairen, Ector was hand-selected from the Warder's Academy by his brother gaidin, Jans a'Parhan, as a fitting protector for Avallin. Born of merchants from the Tairen city of Godan, Ector is a cultured, suave young man, who pleases Avallin with his wit, even as he is drilled mercilessly by Jans Gaidin. He follows the Way of the Blade.
Caitlen
Caitlen Angret Morand:
A popular and respected Green sister, Caitlen Sedai was originally born of farmers near Whitebridge. The youngest child and the only girl in a household of five, strapping brothers, Caitlen is not afraid to box ears, and can give as good as she gets. Her mother encouraged Caitlen to seek a better life elsewhere, and indeed even accompanied her to the White Tower. It was believed that Caitlen's mother was a failed novice, put out for lacking the strength, yet Mistress Morand would never comment upon that. Caitlen spends a good deal of time in Chachin, and many believe that she has a lover there, a high ranking lover at that. Caitlen is only of middling strength, yet she is an accomplished Healer. She has two warders.
    • Rab Hestrill
Andoran like Caitlen Sedai, Rab Gaidin, Caitlen Sedai's first warder, was a childhood friend whom Caitlen persuaded into accompanying her to Tar Valon. Intelligent, Rab threw himself into his studies, and is considered a very fine scholar by even some Brown sisters. He follows the Way of the Star.
    • Jangu Korisowa
Jangu Gaidin, Caitlen's second warder, was originally a Sheinaran Heart Guard, and was bonded by Caitlen Sedai when they met during the Aiel War. He is a ferocious combatant, yet is gentle in words and demeanor.
Carenaeve
Carenaeve Iveille Osavien:
The elder of two sisters, Carenaeve Sedai was destined to inherit her father's brewery in Tremonsien, in the east of Cairhien. When the town was sacked and looted during the Aiel War, her father sent Carenaeve and her sister to live with relatives in Tar Valon, who act as factors for his business. In Tar Valon, the impetuous Carenaeve persuaded her sister to sneak onto the Tower grounds, where they were discovered and brought before the then Keeper of Chronicles, who for reasons of her own, decided the two should spent a month in the life of a novice. Before long, both discovered they could channel, although her sister ultimately refused her Accepted's testing thrice and was put out. Carenaeve is an adventurous sister, spending very little time in Tar Valon, preferring to travel. Confident and capable, she has the rare ability to "read" residues of past weavings. Cairhienin by birth, she is a masterful hand at politics, and indeed many quip she should have chosen Blue. Carenaeve is bonded to four warders.
    • Pedris Masnobar
The first of Carenaeve Sedai's warders, Pedris Gaidin is a well-travelled, genial man with a ready smile on his scared face and good humour. Alone of her four gaidin, Pedris is known to share Carenaeve's bed. He often travels in advance of his mistress to gather information, before returning to her side. He follows the Way of the Star.
    • Mariq ibn Ramayaad
Handsome and cultured, Mariq Gaidin is a distant cousin of the High Seat of House Ramayaad, a powerful house of Tarabon. Far from the line of succession, Mariq enrolled in the Warder Academy for a chance at a life of some distinction. Mariq is known to employ his charm and golden beauty to influence women at the behest of Carenaeve Sedai, who does so without jealousy. He follows the Way of the Blade.
    • Tuan Santanes
Tuan Gaidin was actually once a footpad in Tear, slick and devious, and able to learn much in secret. A foolhardy attempt to steal Carenaeve's purse earned him her attention, and she bonded him as alternative to sending to the Stone as a criminal. Now completely loyal to Carenaeve, Tuan uses his skills only when directed to.
    • Imfar Tobaana
An imposing Domani, Imfar Gaidin was once bonded to another, Leila Moreni, but she was killed under mysterious circumstances. Carenaeve induced him to allow himself to be bonded to her, after being directed to do so by her own Ajah, which was fearful that Imfar would try to follow Leila into death. With his copper skin, smoldering eyes and thick white hair, Imfar is still considered a desirable man, yet he and Carenaeve have a relationship best described as that of a father and daughter. He follows the Way of the Wind.
Dioranda
Dioranda Espanza of House Eberano:
A fair-haired rarity among her countrywomen, Dioranda Sedai is the sister of a Tairen High Lord, and is accustomed to luxury and deference, despite the fact that her own nation views Aes Sedai with utter distaste and fear. A close partisan of Cetreise a'Sorhen, she is known to have some rather controversial episodes in own her past, which include being called upon to resign her Seat in the Hall of the Tower under mysterious circumstances. Dioranda is known to be a demanding instructor of the novices she teaches, lecturing on military strategy as well as horsemanship, for many arrivals at the Tower are unable to ride. Dioranda has three warders.
    • Narak Torvanni
Narak Gaidin was originally the son of Arafellin horse breeders, who traveled to Tar Valon when his family's stables were passed to his brother. He follows the Way of the Blade.
    • Colan Brosnyn
Born and raised in a small town in the Carallain Grass, Colan was brought to Tar Valon by his father when he was stricken with a trembling illness that the local Reader could not cure with her herbs. Barely over the age of majority, he was bonded by Dioranda who promised his father that she would care for him. His illness seems held in abeyance by the bond. Young and swift, he is a deadly swordsman. He follows the Way of the Wind.
    • Nuad Murchada
A dour Kandori, Nuad Gaidin was a former second-captain in the hosts of his local lord, Ingyn of House Hokasu. He resigned his commission after a terrific scandal ensued over the hand of Ingyn's daughter, who was promised to another. Forbidden to return to Kandor, he traveled to Tar Valon where he was bonded to Dioranda, who sensed a void in him.
Gerise
Gerise Thelme Duffrey:
A thick-waisted, matronly Ghealdanin, Gerise Duffrey looks to be nothing more than an open-faced farmwife. However, she is renowned in the Tower as a woman of iron will and formidable suasion. The young widow of a Ghealdan shepherd, she found herself in the Tower in her grief. Enrolling as a novice, she impressed her instructors with her keen insight and facile mind. Gerise once led an embassy to Tear designed to impress upon the High Lords the notion of selecting one of their number as King, the candidate being backed by the Tower. Gerise's mission failed when she channeled to save the life of a Tairen High Lady's daughter, who had broken her back in a fall from a horse. The recalcitrant High Lords ordered her arrest for channeling illegally, and held her warders hostage as guaranties of her compliance. Only the High Lady's intervention saved Gerise from being run out of the country at spear-point. Her "Tairen Sojourn," as she calls it, was her greatest failure, but she is replete with triumphs, including her single-handed capture of two Lord Captains of the Children of the Light, who were attempting to hang a local woman for channeling. She has served two terms as a Sitter for the Green, but she is currently not involved in politics, for all that she is seen in the company of the Amyrlin Seat. Gerise has one warder.
    • Tavram Benzadi
Tavram is a stolid, capable Saldaean, well versed in herbal lore and botany. Tavram and Gerise have an amorous relationship, for Gerise has come to seem him as a lover despite the gulf between their ages. Tavram serves as an instructor in the Tower, offering lectures for both Accepted and Proven.
Hanamin
Hanamin Ivara Regatsu:
The clandestine leader of the Green Ajah, Hanamin Sedai's authority is a closely held secret amongst her sisters of the Battle Ajah. Eschewing public positions of power, Hanamin prefers to lead her Ajah by proxy, chiefly through her protégé, Isolde a'Norhan. In earlier years, her dominance of the Greens was bitterly contested by Patrezya Janar. Born to a proud family of Kandori warriors well over two and a half centuries ago, Hanamin is considered one of the finest tactical and strategic minds the Tower has ever produced. Hanamin joined in the opposition to former Amyrlin, Elsbedhe Bodwell, openly defying her commands. Hanamin currently has four warders, two of which are recently bonded

      Hanamin's Personal Page.

Jacelain
Jacelain sur Eiron, Jacelain of House Eiron:
A young, excitable Green sister, Jacelain sur Eiron seems haughty and arrogant even for an Aes Sedai, for her family groomed her as a possible successor to First Aiman of Mayene, who was the last of his line. When Lady Lilaina was named First of Mayene, Jacelain had her hopes dashed. Lilaina's Aes Sedai advisor, Maesling Tenly, encouraged Jacelain to travel to Tar Valon as a means of removing a political rival from the Court of her charge. Upon arriving in Tar Valon, Jacelain was capable of learning to channel, and ultimately she chose Green. Since that time, she has earned the scorn of many of her sisters, who are put off by her supercilious and demanding manner. She is barely able to control her hatred for Maesling Tenly, and Simoene Alvaewin, a sister of the White, stemming from some trivial incident during their time as novices together. She is believed to control a sizable network of personal informants, and is known to be bursting with ambition. Jacelain is bonded to one warder, whom she has married.
    • Gendros Kurin
The son of a powerful Illianer money-lender, Gendros Gaidin has a substantial personal fortune, often used to finance the ambitions of his wife. The added reach, coupled with is impressive strength, makes him a terrible opponent. In battle, he is capable of cleaving a man in two.

      Jacelain's Personal Page.

Miriana Ailena Tetsobar:
A beautiful, tempestuous Altaran Green sister, Miriana Sedai is a devoteé to Rigan a'Vorhan, and was once her protégé. Miriana wears her gilt-handled knife at her waist at all times, and is too handy by half with it. Miriana was born to sailors near the coast of the Sea of Storms, and is known to have a rough tongue and salty vocabulary. Miriana is famed for her military mind, and has even taken command of a division of armed men during the recent wars between Andor and Cairhien, as the Tower backed Queen Ewelyne of Andor. She has three gaidin, and is seeking at last one more.
    • Thed Blackfield
Miriana's first warder, and born of miners in Baerlon, Thed is an unpretentious man with simple ways and manner, but with a complex mind and ferocious aspect in battle.
    • Riman din Amatar Black Star
Miriana's second warder. A man of the Sea Folk, Riman is handsome and courtly. Riman bonded him as a warder as a means of allowing him to escape an unwanted marriage arranged by his clan. In return, he serves as Miriana's right hand and most capable sword-arm. They are believed to be lovers.
    • Vinar Nirvallin
A tall Malkieri, Vinar is a survivor of that lost nation, and was consumed with avenging its loss. Miriana took him as a warder as a way of realigning his thirst of justice into the wider war against the Shadow. Rasuna is the daughter of a ranger and woodsman in the forests of Soldana, and she is skilled and woodcraft and tracking, as well as being a masterful huntress. Rasuna has a cadre of novices and Accepted who admire and emulate her, for all that she spends virtually no time in the Tower, dabbling in world affairs like a Blue. A protégé of Tianan Tanches, Rasuna often completes secret errands for the Sitter. Word has it that Rasuna has the ability to see ta'veren, and she does seem to have taken note in Ereina Tormiev, a newly arrived novice who seems phenomenally lucky. Rasuna is bonded to three warders, each of whom is believed to be her lover.
    • Rhees Bendley
Rhees Gaidin is the son of Andoran innkeepers who sought a life in the wider world, and enlisted in the Queen's Guard. He petitioned Rasuna to take his service when they met during the Aiel War.

      Rasuna's Personal Page.

Rigan
Rigan Eide do Soers a'Vorhan:
A dynamic, opinionated Green Sister, quite strong in the Power, and with an astoundingly vast network of informants and agents, Rigan a'Vorhan is at the forefront of the Green Ajah, and is afforded a degree of deference by her sister Greens normally reserved for the Amyrlin Seat herself. Born the daughter of influential Murandian nobles, Rigan is notorious for her exploits, which are known to include kidnapping the King of Altara and much of his court to force an end to a civil war, and putting down the Grain Revolts in Rhiyada in Arad Doman, with only her warders as support. Rigan has repeatedly been offered a Seat in the Hall, but habitually refuses it. She recently took a lengthy respite in the olive groves of Illian, only to be called into service to persuading King Herrad Gregorin den Ulyseneos to ratify a Tower brokered treaty with Tear. To that end, she personally filled a vacancy on the Council of Nine, in contravention of all custom and practice. Rigan has four warders.
    • Jeffer Belmond
A cousin of Lady Margiel Belmond of Andor, Jeffer Gaidin carries the title of 'lord,' yet seldom employs it. Rigan's senior warder, he was bonded by her during a lengthy retreat in Andor, when she became involved in the Third War of the Andoran Succession, for she was impressed by his valor. He follows the Way of the Blade.
    • Terun Hakudo

    • Masyn Dorinese
A stalwart Altaran, Masyn Gaidin was once an officer in the Royal House Guard of Ebou Dar, and was persuaded to take service as Rigan's warder during the Aiel War. His sword was a gift from King Patran of House Quintsobar, and believed to be One Power forged.

A vigorous man in his early twenties, Teyle Gaidin is Rigan's youngest Warder, recruited into serving Rigan during her recent stay in Illian. He is a superb marksman and archer.
Tianan
Tianan Aylia Tanches:
A somewhat blunt, less than elegant speaker, Tianan Sedai is a prominent Green sister, currently holding a Seat in the Hall of the Tower. Originally born of Tairen merchants, Tianan has keen financial sense, and has been appointed as supervisor of the Tower's many accounts in banks and money-lenders across the nations. Tianan words carry great weight in the Hall, for she has the Foretelling, although she has not had an episode in nigh a decade. Tianan is a close political ally of Perseinde Apeneos, as well as a good friend.

It is a secret Sealed to Flame that Tianan was a wilder, and was trained by the now disbanded small group of channeling women gathered and trained by former initiates. Tianan is not alone in her origins, but it is unknown who among her sisters shares them. Tianan is a vocal critic of the Tower's recruitment policies, and early into her career, she was handed a series of fearsome penances. Tianan is known to be bonded to two warders, although the more canny of her sisters are aware of a third, whom she allows to go his own way.

    • Deran Talevwyn
Tianan's first warder, he has been her warder since her earliest days as an Aes Sedai. A slender Cairhienin, Deran is dutiful and efficient if somewhat somber. He follows the Way of the Star.

The exact circumstances of his bonding to Tianan are quite murky, but he wears her yoke quite lightly indeed.
