On the night of the goddess assent bact to the heavens to serve her thousand year punishment, the NeoFae were left to the mercy of the Fae. Or, rather I should say, to the mercy of Crystal. I did tell you, despite the goddess' instructions to take care of her cousins, Crystal had something else in mind, right? After all, she was the most powerful of the Fae. She knew it, and her sisters knew. What was worse, Crystal knew that the weakest Faes feared her. Then, there were the ones such as Beryl and Nite, very loyal, the thought of ever arguing with Crystal never entering their minds. That was very good for Crystal. After all, she believed JyM would WANT her to be in charge, and loyalty mixed with a little fear wouldn't hurt. She knew the the weak ones will stay out of her way.

Underestimating her owe mother's abilities, Crystal figured that there was no way for JyM to know how she treated the "False Ones". She greeted them with a false smile and scanned their thoughts to find their weaknesses. What she didn't know was Jazz had the ability to control his unconcious thoughts. A special little gift from the goddess, but I don't want to give too much away about little Jazz. "I have given Goldie and Aurora instructions to set out a feast for you. I know that you are different from us, therefore, I have made arrangements for you to have everything that you would need to be comfortable. Go with them now, and they will show you your living area. Sleep well, and I shall see you in the morning." "Thank you, Cousin Crystal, for we are very grateful. We know that we will learn much from you and our other cousins," Jaida said. Jazz tugged on Jaida's elbow to get her attention. "Not now, Jazz, we must eat and rest. There's plenty of time for what ever you want to tell me tomorrow." And she turned, holding on to Jazz's hand so that he had no choice but to follow. The NeoFae were lead to a low lit clearing against a hill where a stream flowed through the rocky slopes and continued it's gentle gurgling towards the nearest lake. A table and chairs were set up and their meals were ready for them. However, the table and chairs were made from heavy stone, their meals were simple fruits on a leaf sitting on the ground!
Jazz really wasn't the only one of the NeoFae who felt something wasn't quite right at dinner. But, the adults felt it was too early to make any accusations. Also, you must remember, the goddess had purposefully made them less curious than the Fae. Yet, I must admit, things were getting very strange. The cave, which was suppose to be their sleeping quarters, was only lit by the fireflies who wondered in, or the light from the moon that shown through the cave's opened mouth. There was nothing to sleep on but a bed of flowers. By now, the newcomers were tired, and despite Jaida's anxiety over Jazz, they all cuddled together to keep warm on the cold ground in the dark. The next morning, they found that they had to bath in the stream and use a hole in the ground as a potty. There was only leaves to dry and wipe themselves. Jazz became more and more convinced that his elder cousins did not, could not, live this way. The previous night, as the others were eating and he began walking along the stream, he had tried to find his way back to the Fae camp. But, he became confused, having the sense that something, or someone, was keeping him from finding the camp. By the time he returned, his family had retired to the cave. He curled up beside Greenley, shivering, and he didn't fall asleep for a long time. When the NeoFae were all cleaned, ready for their first full day on Gaia, they returned to the stone table to find that their breakfast of berries and apples on a leaf plate was waiting for them on the ground. And so was Crystal. But not on the ground.
"Now, I think the first thing I will teach you is how to grow your own food so that you won't have to worry about waiting for us to feed you. I want to warn you, this may not be such an easy task. Gaia can be very fickle when she wants to and may not yield to you very easily." Crystal sighed, looking concerned. "Oh, I so wish you had magical abilities like us. Then your life would be so much simpler." "Why don't you just use your magic for us?" Greenley asked. "Oh, no, we can't do that. Our Goddess wouldn't approve." "Why?" Greenley asked as she began to chase a butterfly, suddenly uninterested. "Yes, that's a good question," Jazz was looking at her, and for a few seconds, Crystal lost her concentration and could not read anyone's thoughts. "Why?" he asked. "Now, now, little one," she said. "You shouldn't worry about such things. After breakfast, you can go play with Greenley while I take your parents and the others to a nice area that can be cleared to grow a garden of fruits and vegetables all your own."

"Yes, of course," replied Jaida. "Well, let's eat everyone." Greenley quickly grabbed a leaf plate of fruits and decided to sit on the side of the rock table where she could have a good view of the stream. Everyone follow suit, sitting around the table, and began to eat the simple meal of blueberries, a slice of cantalupe, an apple and some currants. Everyone, that is, except Jazz. He sat down across from Greenley, trying not to look dissappointed. Then he suddenly jumped up. "Excuse me. Is it alright if I go for a walk? Mother, it's so beautiful here, can I see where this stream leads?" Jaida was a little worried. After all, she knew there were wild creatures here on Gaia, and without her cousin's advise, she wasn't sure if Jazz would be safe. "Alright. But, please don't go far. If you get into any trouble, I want to be able to hear your voice." And with that, Jazz began to follow the stream into the forest.

Jazz immediately began to protest. "What are our meals doing on the ground? And we are expected to sit on those hard surfaces? I won't do it!" "Nonsense", purred Aurora, trying very hard to sound like Crystal. "This is perfectly normal for us. We eat this way all the time and you'll see that the chairs are really quite comfortable. Well, for a while," she lied, giggling under her breath. Goldie giggled also, turning her head, covering her mouth with her hand. "Jazz, that is not the way to speak to your elder cousin," Greer spoke sharply to his young son. "Thank you Aurora, Goldie. It looks delicious". "And," she continued, "we fixed up a nice cave for you to sleep in. And around over here by the stream are places for you to bath and to, well, relieve yourself. Sorry, but we've never had to do that, so we had to improvise something that would be comfortable and clean. Our mother made us so different from you. You do understand?"
