| Personal Biography |
| My name is Melissa Newallis. I have worked with the rescue of animals since the mid 1980's. I work with Operation Wild Life to rescue the domestic birds that they cannot. I am listed as a contact person for many animal shelters in Kansas and Missouri. Currently I have an Aviary Nursery I run out of my home. Mostly I help our Beak N Wing club members and other clients take care of baby birds pulled from the nest. It's something I'm good at and I help train others in taking care of their own babies too. In addition to the Nursery, I also teach and train small birds with emotional issues. Some birds need more TLC and training to be better companions to their owners. I have enjoyed working with Beak N Wings for my 6th year now. The club is also growning and have developed a Rescue and Adoption program within the Educationa Pet Bird Club. Although seperate from the club itself, we can't help but go hand in had as the education of bird owners and helping birds without a good home is best handeled by the club. Although I no longer breed birds, I still take care of babies. The last addition to my flock is a baby Goffin Cockatoo. I have decided to name her Gracie Ann Newallis. She is such a joy however one of my little boys, Paladin, the Dusky Pionus is very jealous of her. Please feel free to go below and look at some of the photo's I have added to the website. My home is like a petting zoo. I wouldn't have it any other way. 2005 was a tragic year for me. I got married and lost my husband just 7 weeks later. I also lost my Paternal Grandmother, Maternal Grandfather, Maternal Uncle and a family friend all in the same year. My father also is still healing from stage 4 cancer surgery. I take the love from my pets and the family around me and make the best of what I have. I have more and more going on in my life. I will be adding to my bio page as things progress. Until then, I will tell my friends and family I am well, I am happy and I wish everyone to be well and happy too. |
