How to tell if you are Scandinavian
Minnesota has the reputation for being mostly Scandinavian. Especially Northern Minnesota. This is partially true. There ARE many scandinavians in Northern Minnesota, but there are many other nationalities represented, also. Just to be on the safe side, here's ...
Do you refrain from interrupting and always give the impression you are listening?

Do you mow your own lawn?

Do you know instinctively how to clean fish?

Do you feel
really grateful when Spring comes?

Do you refrain from being so polite that you seem sarcastic?

Do you give nearly all musical performances standing ovations?

Do you judge a man by the size of his boat engine?

Do you avoid sideburns and moustashes?

Do you stay away from cowboy boots?

Do you crave Lutefisk at Christmas? *

Do you belong to the Luther League?

Do you make a poor talk-show host?

Do you find that most of your food is listed as sedatives by the FDA?

Do you nod and say, "Uh-huh", "Ya Sure", or "You Betcha" a lot?

Do you seldom forget to let people know how healthy you are?

Do you start all  sentences with well.....

Do you stare right at someone telling a joke and not respond to the punch line?

Do you brag about winters you have endured?

Do you have that pasty Minnesota skin tone from long winters?

Do you value bait more than live theater?

Do you only give oral histories to your dentist?

Do you eat a lot of casseroles?

Do you consider dock fishing an amusing sport.

Do you carry jumper cables and road salt in your trunk in August?

Do you do everything backwards in church? Stand to pray and sit to sing?

* Lutefisk hot dish is the dish that inspired the dance of death!
I am Scandinavian, but don't hold it against me!
