SISLETS Membership Agreement

Becoming a member of SISLETS involves agreeing with some simple rules to benefit all members and ensure the system is run equally and fairly.
Please read the following agreement:

  1. SISLETS is a non-profit community organisation owned and run by its financial members.
  2. Individuals and businesses may register to trade in SISLETS by completing a 'Joining Form' and pay annual fee. Financial members should produce their current membership card as proof of membership when trading.
  3. SISLETS members trade in LETS 'Units'. 'Payment' for goods/services between members is on negotiable terms.
  4. SISLETS will assist members to trade but does not guarantee the value, condition or quality of goods/services traded. It is the responsibility of members to make the necessary checks on safety & competence if they feel so inclined.
  5. SISLETS members are responsible for maintaining their account credit/debit within reasonable limits with a debit balance of no more than 300 units.
  6. SISLETS Committee members will promote SISLETS involvement in the community, provide administrative support to members and keep records of transactions.
  7. The SISLETS Committee has the authority to: a. administer joining & transaction fees at a rate set by the committee b. reverse a transaction from one member’s account to another in the event of any discrepancy c. make available the balance and turn-over of a member’s account to other members if appropriate d. act on behalf of members seeking redress from a member whose account is heavily out of balance
  8. The SISLETS Committee may refuse to record a transaction considered inappropriate and may rescind a membership where there is misuse of the SISLETS organization or the activities not consistent with the Values, Principles and Ethics of LETS.
  9. It is the responsibility of members to declare and pay taxes where/when necessary and fulfill Workcover and public liability insurance - where necessary.
  10. Members’ private details are confidential and should not be disclosed to non-members without prior consent.
  11. Members are responsible for returning their account balance to zero when they terminate their membership. Is it not SISLET’s responsibility to repay a member’s credit if/when that member leaves the system
  12. Liability of the Committee to any member for damage suffered is limited only to that caused by willful default of a Committee member.
