
Astral projection is defined as the ability to separate the astral body from the physical. Some beleive this is a projection of consciousness, some beleive it is a projection of the soul. It is my belief that it can be both.
Astral travel {also termed as "out of body experience"} most commonly occurs during the sleep cycle, but can occur through meditation, sickness, and even through concious effort. Everyone experiences obes at one point or another,,usually through the dream state,,they just fail to recognize it for what it is.
The sensation of floating above your body, flying, the inability to move limbs, or a "whooshing" sensation where sights flash by very swiftly as you awaken from the dream state,,are all common sensations that can be credited to OBE's.
Astral travel is a very natural but not always remembered occurrence. With little effort we can program ourself to recall our astral travels. It is also possible to learn to project through conciousness.
I have chosen several exercises that have helped me learn to project and remember. I have had nothing but positive experiences and have learned from each experience.
The first thing you should do is try remembering your dream travels. Do this by programming your mind by telling yourself, as you go to sleep each night, to remember your astral travels. It may take a few tries but it will happen. When you awake,,write everything down, the more detailed your memories are, the easier it will be to separate astral travel from dream material. Eventually, you will be able to plan where you want to go in your travels, and even who you want to meet. The more vivid your memories are, the more control you will have.
If possible, arrange a meeting place with a friend, then compare your results with them the next day, as with everything worthwhile, patience and persistance will bring results.
Bi-Location-After you have had some experience with dream travel, you may want to try other forms of projection. Bi-location is also termed as "overlooking". Its very easy to accomplish and takes no more than a deep realaxation state. It can be preformed sitting up and you are always vaguely aware of what is going on around you. Once you reach the point of deep relaxation, simply clear your mind and focus on where you want to go. Its a useful way to find out things you need to know,,to check on the welfare of a loved one,etc. This practice also helps prepare you for consious astral projection.
Preparing for concious astral travel-If you have been successful so far, your next step, if you wish to take it, is projecting through concious effort. It, for me, was not as easy to accomplish as bi-location and dreamwork. I have chosen these exercises to help bring about the necessary psychic energy and the right mind state that is needed.
Exercise to energize the six Centres of Activity.
