The Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry

Hogwarts School was established over 1000 years ago by the renown witches and wizards, Godric Gryffindor, Rowena Ravenclaw, Helga Hufflepuff and Salazar Slytherin. Hogwarts is situated in Hogsmeade, the largest magical settlement in Britain. Its grounds borders the forbidden forest, and is very well protected by enchantments. For example, one cannot apparate of disapparate inside the school grounds, and muggles see the school as a ruin with a "danger, do not enter" sign. It has also been enchanted to be unplottable, which means it cannot be plotted on a map.

The school has many towers, dungeons, a quidditch pitch, and the largest workforce of elves in Britain. The ceiling of the Great Hall mimicks the sky outside, and fascinates most of the visitors to the school. Hogwarts School also holds annual House Quidditch Cup Championship, and House Championship, causing much rivalry between the four Hogwarts Houses.

Students get to school by the Hogwart Express which runs every term to take the students to and from school. From third year and onwards, students are allowed to visit Hogsmeade, a nearby magical settlement, although there are strict rules which prevent students from going without written consent from their parents or guardians.
