The Agony..........

Well, after 2 years of utilizing every ounce of the 145 ponies that my 4A-GZE can offer, I needed more. So, I opted to turbo charge it. Did some readings on articles from the net. The Super-Turbo setup requires complex engine management system and due to the limited funds available, I decided to dish out  the SC12 blower and make way for a CA18 Turbine.

My brother-in-law knows this guy, supposedly to be famous for turbo charging cars and he has done 2 Levins before. So I traveled south to Johore and met up with that dude by the name of Rafi or a,k,a Juntai with an agreed schedule of 3 days! ! ! Well I did think the time is a bit ridiculous...

Day 1

-So, there I went down to Johore along with my buddy Jeff.. and my  luggage enough for 4 days supply of underwears! I arrived in Kg. Pasir.. where the workshop is based. I think that Juntai rented another mechanic's workshop by the name of Salim. There, lies Salim's TE27 with a FC3s engine in it, and trust me, that car is B-A-D A-S-S-E-D!!! Anyways, work started on my car, the inlet manifold and the SC12  removed. I didn't know there will be so many parts involved when those 2 items were to be removed. It took them 1 whole day just to get it removed.

Day 2

- Juntai's apprentice by the name of Man - Panjang showed up and help work on thee car while we drove around town purchasing items to be used later. I bought a 1G-GTE intercooler, a Hi-pressure fuel pump, Blitz BOV and other necessities. Opted to run at 1.5 bar of boost but it requires a metal head gasket. Again, time and resource constraint didn't permit me to do so. So I opted to run on a safer 1.0-1.2 bar with 2 units of 550cc sub injectors controlled by the ERL MF2 Sub Injector Mapper.

Day 3

 - The extractor was being born. Piece by piece it was welded together. It looks like the shape of a goat's horn. Not too bad, but again.. it took 1 whole day which narrows down to 1 day to complete? by the looks of it, I wont be going anywhere for the next 3 days!!! and this guy assured me that it will be completed by tomorrow?! heh... Anyways, I went on to purchase the ERL - MF2 Fuel Mapper to power the extra injectors for hi-boost applications, I almost opted for the Water Injection as well, but I'd have to pawn my remaining spare underwears for it heh..

Day 4

-  That bastard Juntai went M-I-A on me. Damn.. and my stay in the Hotel Grand Continental are not cheap neither. I was screwed. He went missing the entire day. There we were, Jeff and I, sitting there in the workshop like morons waiting for that piece of crap to return. He didn't show up till late at night, close to 11.30pm! Showed up at the hotel with my Bro-in-Law.. bastard was locked up for riding around town without his driving license. Heh.. I wouldn't know whether he's the unfortunate one, or it was me. Anyways, another promise made.. TOMORROW WILL BE THE COMPLETION DATE!! ..heh.. yeah rite..

Day - 5

- Again, MIA the entire day. No trace of him at his house whatsoever. Got extremely pissed and called a tow truck to ferry my car to another workshop - RMD Motorsports. There, we met Taib, Juri, and many others. Friendly chaps.. and helpful ones too.

Day - 6

- Juri started work on my car at 8.00am ! ! !  Boy was i glad that finally.. someone actually works EARLY!!! and I was really grateful for that. They realize that I'm running out of time and cash. While he was working on it. I took a tour around the workshop. There were lots of trophies there, mostly for Sprint Tests. Winner for FR Category, FF category, 1st runner up for 4WD category.. and etc. I got the chance to view their infamous Mazda Capella with an FD3S installed, full port and polish and running at 2.5bar? It's somewhere around that figure. I shit u not, when that monster fires up... it really left one heck of an impression in me and I actually saw it tearing down the horizon when its owner Taib drove it. There was also the Nissan BlueBird with SR20 installed and running full time 4WD, an Iswara with VR4 engine installed and a Honda EF9 with B16A Turbo-Charged, I heard the Civic beat the crap out of a local well known workshop's B18-Turbo Civic with a wager of RM5000.00.

- By the end of the day, most of the parts were in, the extractor, the inlet manifold, the custom pipings, intercooler.. etc.. by midnight, we tried to get it started..... anticipations were high.. and my balls were itching like mad because I've been wearing the same god damn underwear for the past 3 days.. we fire up the starter.. and.. to be slumped by a failed start.. they tried to diagnose it but to no avail. Soon, it was already 3am. and I got extremely fed up and drove back home to the Capital city with Jeffery using my Bro-in-law's car. He's from Johore so he has his alternative means of transportation there and his lodging is FREE! So he stayed back. I could barely stay awake during the journey home, fortunately I have Jeff to drive the rest of the way home when I actually fell asleep halfway through the journey.

Day - 7

- Got news that my car actually started, the problem was with one of the fuel hose wrongly plumbed.

Day - 8

- Further piping customization were done. The intercooler piping were leaking and wasn't done up properly.

Day - 9

- My Bro-in-law drove my car back (385km!) from Johore and arrived at 5.30am. I waited till I fell asleep. My parents didn't bothered to wake me up and let me rest throughout the morning. When I finally woke up, there she was... parked outside .. all crummy and shitty... the only thing that was shiny was the paint removed 1G intercooler, even the god damn number plate was tied to the grill with a stupid plastic string. What the hell have I done? My car was in tip top showroom condition.. and, now it looks as if it weren't worth a cent........ Tears were brewing in my eyes......

                                                                                                 NEXT!!! Part 2!!!
