New Republic Governmental Ranks
Chief of State

The Chief of State is the most powerfull position within the New Republic. Although having the most power , the COS needs profund diplomatical skills, to distinguish between what is a local planetary need and what are local planetary ambitions. Since Mon Motma resigned, Leia Organa-Solo heads the New Republic and guides it through the troubled galaxy. The COS controlls the Mon Calamari Cruiser 100.

Councillor

The two Councillors are the head of the New Republic government and its administration and handles the day-to-day work for the Chief of State. The councillors prepares the Senate meetings and is responsible for the New Republic Budget. He oversees the governmental affaires like Research and Developement and the Diplomatic missions. His main task is to balance the powergroups within the senate with those outside the politic: the military, economical groups, and, of course, the Jedi Order. The two Councillors normally share the control of an Ambassador Class Cruiser, as it is unlikely for both of them to be able to leave Yavin. Councillors may have direct administrative control of single planets as well as sector whide. Having two councillors means as well to divide the power each councillor has, to avoid the repetition of the history with Senator Palpatine.

Minister of the Republic

The Ministers of the Republic aid the Councillors in the various aspects of governmental and administrative affairs. High Comissioners, that prooved to be essential for keeping up the governmental work will be named Minister of the Republic for their special abilities. Ministers may be given the administrative responsibility for a whole sector and control a massive flagship.

High Comissioner

The High Comissioners are the first administrative rank in the New Republic. Senators, who prooved trusty, have a backup in the senate and are specialists on certain governmental affairs may aspire in the very honorous rank of High Comissioner as first step into the powerfull New Republic administration. The High Comissioner report to their related Minister, the Councillor or in rare cases, directly to the Chief of State. High Comissioners may be granted the right to be in command of a massive naval cruiser for certain missions, but normally are equally  Senator.

Senator of the New Republic

The rank of Senator will be granted to those Ambassadors who prooved their political abilities on an interplanetary scale or to those who have the rank of Ambassador a long time.  They have acquired a certain amount of politcal influence and are most often ambitious to gain a rank with administrational power. Hence, they are often leader of a small  political group and might represent more than one planetary system. Senators have a great influence of the local politics of their homeplanet and are quite often known to handle all interplanetary affairs. They are responsible for the naval defense of their planets and sometimes have an older design of a naval cruiser as flagship, to aid his planets in attack cases.

Ambassador, Envoy, Mignon of a New Republic Member World

Each member world of the New Republic has two seats in the New Republic Senate. Those positions are named by the local planetary government and are often known to be given to honoured politicians of the planet or to local heros. Having equal rights in the Senate, Ambassadors and Senators are the political basic of the New Republic. On behalf of their homeplanets, they may carry out diplomatic missions and may oversee research and developement. Many military officers, after resigning, decide to join politics and start as Ambassadors of their homeworld or a world where they are well known. Sometimes, the rank of honor-Ambassador is granted to military persons in duty, where the duties and rights of Ambassador is considered to repose. Ambassadors usually have a small flagship for representation purposes.
