| Day In Brief: | Hoover Dam | Streets of Las Vegas> |
Lodgings: Travelodge Las Vegas Strip Hotel
Hoover Dam
| Hoover Dam is located outside of Las Vegas, approximately an hour's drive away. Built more than 60 years ago, Hoover dam still stands as a world re-known structure to date. The dam is a National Historic Landmark of the US and has been rated by the American Society of Civil Engineers as one of America's Seven Modern Civil Engineering Wonders.
"Well, guess this was one of the days where we started really late. Reached Hoover dam just in time for the last standard tour of the day. Phew! The tour took us into the power plant itself through a tunnel. We got to see the hydroelectric generators at work too. The entire tour took us a total of 30 to 35 minutes in all. |

Streets of Las Vegas
| "We spend our 2 nights walking along the streets of Las Vegas, as activity in Las Vegas in the daytime was simply not quite feasible in the strong desert heat. However, nights in Las Vegas was simply enjoyable. The weather was mild, not too cold or hot. Shimmering buildings and colourful neon lights adorn the streets of LV. Coupled with the fact that all the hotels have their own individual themes that are strongly brought out through their designs, displays and lightings, walking along the streets of LV casted us (or maybe this applies only to me?) into a land where fairy tales come true.
The fountains of Bellagio comes to life every night. One gets transported to Venice, Paris, New York and Egypt just by simply walking along the streets and popping into these hotels. Shows and music fills the streets nightly. Everything around me was so beautiful but yet there remains an unrealistic feel to it.....guess it's more like a dreamland that only comes true at night. :)" |
