Day In Brief:East Rim Drive
South Rim of the Grand Canyon

East Rim Drive

" To complete our visit of Grand Canyon National Park , we topped it up with a drive through the East Rim of the Grand Canyon to exit the park. The east rim of the park did not seem to be as crowded as the west rim. Private vehicles were allowed on the roads, unlike the west rim. The East Rim drive is about 37km, starting South of Mather Point (where we caught our first glimpse of the Grand Canyon) and ending at Desert View.

Similar to the West Rim Drive, East Rim Drive offers many look-out points that one may stop for different perspectives of the Grand Canyon."

Perched on one of the overhangs at one of the lookout points along the East Rim.
Guess the emphasis in this photo is prob more on the great scenery in the background! Since our faces are covered in shadows ;p
*Small point of interest*: My feet are clad in sandals today due to 2 giant blisters which developed on my big toes on both feet as a result of the gruelling Bright Angel Trail that we went through yesterday..:)

Desert View Watch Tower

"Reached the end of the East Rim Drive-Desert View. We climbed all the way up to the top of the 70-foot(21.3 meter) Watchtower, that was also designed by Mary Colter back in 1932. In the interior of the tower, murals painted by Indian artist Fred Kabotie adorned the walls. A well documented phamplet that details and explains the Indian graphics on the murals depicting Hopi legends, is also available at the Desert View Watchtower."
