ACADEMIC PROJECTS

During our academic curriculum we have one project in each semester. Though the project is incorporated by the university in only 6th and 8th semester, still our college gives us a project in each semester. This helps us in improving our skill and knowledge and can be of great help in future when we shall deal with variety of projects of different complexities, and different dead lines some short and some long.

Here I shall describe you my academic projects under taken during the entire B.E. curriculum, with some projects primitive and some complex. Besides this  I have done variety of programs in JAVATM 2.0 and GCC (Linux side parallel processing development). JAVATM had been my primary interest and best tool for development due to its object-oriented features and cross-platform operatibility. I had variety of programs of different complexities in JAVA.

CD Burning Software as DLL for backup
(8th Semester)
The burning softwares are available in adundance but not Dlls. The DLLs get a priority in any operating system. Plus the DLL can be linked by calling its APIs in any application. Our CD Burning Software helps in removing the very pesky "next-next-next-.." phenomenon. Just directly click burn and get the data transferred. Developed on higher versions of Windows, 2003 server and XP professional, the Software makes use of IMAPI service provided by the MS Windows to its Client. It uses Spiral Model since I have plan for future incrementals.
Platform : Windows 2003 server and Windows XP Professional.
Language :
MS VC++ 6.0 , MS VC++.NET, Platform SDK (COM Shell Interface)

WEBSITE -Student Information System
(7th Semester)
This website provides abundant amount of information on Student and staff related material like online attendance, alumni, Personal information, course material, etc. etc.. The most attractive part of the project is its database design and development and moreover the whole project is being developed in accordance with Client/Server 3-tier Technology.
Platform :
Windows 98 and Windows 2003 Server.
Language :
ASP 2.0,
Oracle 8i,
HTML 4.0,
MS Visual Interdev 6.0,
Macromedia Flash.

Generic Joystick Driver.
(6th Semester)
The one of its kind, this software was the most challenging work and provided extra knowledge at par with system side and its working. Still problematic with lots of error, this project was rated to be the best of its kind even in coding and withe errors, since most of (almost) joysticks are plug and play capable, and I was to develop my one Driver generic enough to support any vendor. The joystick driver was designed with force-feedback system in mind. Still I am trying to remove error and successfully test it. I will entertain any help in this matter from any good being.
Platform :
Windows 98 and Windows 2000 server
Language :
VC++,
8086 Assembly programming, and Jungo Driver Development Kit (at present  I am also willing to use Windows DDK)

WEBSITE - Ohm Hostel (affiliated to Charotar Institute of Technology, Changa (CITC))
(5th Semester)
The website was a part of module for the whole website of the college, with different modules distributed amongst the student. We got the module to prepare a website for the Ohm Hostel, affiliated to our college. The website presented information like Hostel history, facilities, location, student information residing there. It also provided the administrative powers so that the information can be manipulated from any where with the help of Secret password. A simple cipher text algorithm was used to have the secrecy of the password. One of the attractive part of the website was the search by using various strategies like name, surname, city, roll number, branch, date of admission etc.etc.
Platform :
Windows 98 and Windows XP
Language :
ASP 2.0,
MS Access 2000,
MS Visual Interdev 6.0,
HTML 4.0

Banking System
(4th Semester)
The Banking system was one of the very primitive type of project developed only as part of study project just for learning purpose of Software methodologies and appoach to future project. Only incorporating small amount of modules in relation to very vast and complex present Banking Sytem.
Platform :
Windows 98
Language :
MS Visual Basic 6.0,
MS Access 2000
InHouse
(for Charotar Institute of Technology, Changa)

Besides this I am also doing parallel project not academically assigned, but for my learning purpose, since I think that the best way to learn any language is to have a project in mind. (parallel projects )
However my chief interest is Java 2.0 and Oracle for Application development with more emphasis to Client/Server Technology and Distributed Computing using EJB and CORBA over RMI-IIOP.
