Chapter 4

She never said a word to him from that day forward soon he went back on the road and she was very relieved. None of his many glares as if he blamed the whole thing on her, But 4 months later he walked in and she was on the floor asleep. She was dressed on overalls and a red shirt. He could not tell if she was showing yet or not but he did notice that his place was very clean, cleaner than usual. The place even smelled different fresh and sweet. He followed the sweet smell into the kitchen and she had fresh baked cookies on the stove. As he walked back into the living room where she was on the floor asleep she he noticed that the curtains were all drawn back to let in sunlight, she started to move a little as if about to wake but she didn�t so he just went upstairs to his room to let her sleep.

He sat in his room feeling really bad for the way he had treated her before he left. He was just so mad at her, at himself about everything, so that night he walked up to her door and knocked softly and she turned her music down and she peeked her head out the door surprised to see him �Hey�

When she spoke her voice was barely a whisper, it was so soft he could barely hear her as he said �Are you okay?� she nodded �yes� as he said �Why are you talking like that?�

She came out in now a oversized tee shirt, and to his surprised she had started to show a little, he saw the bulk in the shirt and he knew it was her stomach as she said, �I had a very mild heart attack while you were gone about a week ago.�

�Are you okay? Why didn�t you call me and tell me or something?� he said now feeling worst and very worried.

�I didn�t want you to treat me differently or be more of a burden to you than I have already.�

�I am sorry about the way I acted before you left�I mean I left I was just mad, I am really sorry.�

�It�s okay, I understand,� she said opening her door a little as of saying she didn�t want to talk anymore.

�Do you need anything?� he asked before he let her go.

�No I�m fine, I�m gonna go back to sleep.� She disappeared back into her room and he didn�t feel any better only worst.

The next morning he got up and showered and got dressed and come downstairs and she was cooking breakfast when he entered the kitchen. He didn�t think for him so he turned to leave and she called him and he turned �Yes�

�You�re not gonna eat breakfast with me? We need to talk anyway.�

He came and sat and she sat their plates down and then she sat in the chair next to him and he sat at the top of the table and he began to eat as he said �So what�s up, what do we have to talk about?�

�I don�t know�

�You wanted to talk, how is your baby?� he asked making sure not to look up her cause he already felt her eyes looking at him.

� Our baby is fine, it�s healthy, it�s fine.�

�It better be�

She released a huge sigh as she said �You were an actor right so can you act like we�re married? Can you make this fun?�

�First we need to get to know each other.�

She grabbed the orange juice and began to pour them both a glass as she said �I know the basics about you, I read it on the internet, that despite the way you treat me you seem like a really nice guy, a sweet gentle soul.�

He laughed �The Internet� then he looked over at her as he said, �Look Nadia, since we have to do this, let�s make it fun okay, it�ll be like we�re roommates friends, buddies and some of the great perks of being my wife.�

�Okay, Will you take me to work and pick me up?� He nodded �yes� and they were both quiet the reminder of the breakfast.

Brenda was shocked when she saw Nadia and Howie walk in together and they lightly and quickly kissed each other on the cheek and then he left and Nadia so happy to see her friend hugged her and then went towards her desk as Brenda said �So you two like each other.�

�No it�s an mutual understanding.� Nadia said as she looked at her phone and saw no new messages and she just released a sigh.

�Sure�

�I can�t wait until these 2 years are over and I can get back to my life.�

�How do you know that you two won�t fall for each other?�

�No, no way, that�s not gonna happen, we don�t even like each other.� Howie said as if reading Nadia mind.

�You can grow to like each other.� AJ said listening to him talk about this Nadia girl he knew nothing about.

�I strongly doubt that, we both agreed to still go out with other people.�

�That�s selfish of you�

�What?!�

�She�s pregnant�now really how many guys do you know that go away around like �That pregnant chick is hot.� Guys don�t �I mean most guys don�t date pregnant chicks, it�s not like you to be mean. Besides stress is not good for your baby so you know be nice to her.�

�Yeah right, Where does she start?�

�Watch TV with her, talk to her, take her out, take her to a movie that would be nice.�

AJ didn�t know that he was taking in his words so seriously as he heard him say to himself �Be nice, I can to that.�
