The name Sinauna for which now the company name stands, is derived from two
tagalog words; Sila at Una - meaning “they are first” pronounced as
spelled give emphasis on the “u” una (first) gives even a broader and deeper meaning.
Tradition - like sinaunang ugali (old ways); sinaunang gamit (old things).
It could even go as far as primitive, or if said as “sinauna na ‘yan” - would mean
as no longer used, or rare.
Sinauna Crafts’ humble beginning started from the heart of its founder, the Salvacions
of Lucena, Quezon whose love for the antiques, artifacts, and other collectibles was rooted
from the family heirloom of the late grandfather Don Felix Ladera Salvacion.
The birth of the business was in fact accidental and yet timely, from the standard G.I.
gate at the residence to a rustic looking gate made out of old molave wooden planks.
With 5 meandering molave posts that came from old Spanish houses, an additional look
topped with original capiz window panels as accents gave the Salvacion residence a complete
facelift with the change of its facade. Everyone who passes by cannot help but stop, look
and appreciate the sight of an old house in the middle of the bustling city. This change
paved the way for passers-by to say “Ang ganda! Sinauna ang dating.” (“It’s beautiful!…
it has a traditional look”) - the name of Sinauna Crafts was born.
A block away from the showroom-residence is Sinauna’s workshop and
warehouse where all the restoration, reproduction, and finishing works are done.
Sinauna Crafts would always have something you have not seen yet!
