| Caloundra / Brisbane |
| Fri 14.12 - Caught bus to Caloundra at 11.55am. My grand- uncle, Joe, lived in Caloundra up until he died about 10 years ago and I wanted to call in and see the house where he lived.. We camped in Hibiscus Caravan Park. Claire and I then got local bus to Currimundi. I found Elonera Street. Granny had given me list of numbers and people who lived in the houses. I saw a woman in a garden, checked the list and then said to her, "Excuse me are you Mrs Jean Kidd?" She was taken aback but I explained who I was. She took us in and chatted to us for 20 mins. She even showed me a photo of her and Granny in her garden taken 15 or more years ago. I also visited other neighbours, Joe and Hilda Satchell.. He was a bit deaf and a real character. He said he wants to live to 100 and he wants to die by being shot by a jealous husband!! Jean then took us to the graveyard where Joe was buried, but we couldn't find the grave. Jean then left us back to the campsite. Sat 15.12 - Up at 7am. My runners were stolen for outside then tent. Someone must be desperate for a pair because they were absolutely stinking!! We caught bus to Brissie aarriving at 3pm. The YHA was good.Walked to City centre. Great shopping. Cooked dinner. Sun 16.12 - Went shopping at noon. I bought a pair of trainers to replace the ones that were stolen. We called Gabriella and caught the train out to the suburb of Ferny Grove, to meet her and her mother and father. It was a beautiful house with pool and, of course, a barbie! We had a lovely meal and a good chat. They had a little problem with my accent. We went for coffee in the Southbank area of Brisbane after dinner and then they left us back to hostel. Overall a good night. Great to see Gabriella again. Scott, hello to you if youre reading this.
