Bunbury (Page 1)
Tues 26.06 - We got the train down to Bunbury.  Of course Claire slept with her mouth open.  Fella from hostel picked us up.  Hostel decor was a bit 70's, ie Brown carpets and blankets not duvets (or Dooners as they call them  in Oz).

Wed 27.06 - Went to 4 agencies and handed in my CV.  They are all saying it is very quiet at present.  Out of Season.  One even said the place is dead!!  Great news for your client!!

Met Dublin fella, Mossy, in hostel.  Bought a box of wine with him.  He reckons hes only got about 50 poound to his name and doesnt seem that concerned about it.

Thurs 28.06 - Claire started work today.  She had to get up at 6.30am to get a bus at 7.10, that has her a work for 7.50 and she doesnt start to 8.30.  I went to another agency who were just a down beat about my prospects.

Claire got on OK on first day.  The people that are leaving Kirsty (Welsh) and Anna (New Zealander) were great she said.

Fri 29.06 - Went to Kirsty and Anna's leaving do.  It was great fun after the boring shits left.  Claire was drinking Jim Beam, so for once I was the one who had to stay half sensible and make sure we both got home in one piece.

Went to a bar at 1.15am called the Rat and Parrot.  The place was full of men with mullet haircuts and checked shirts and cowboy boots, and women with checked shirts and
ski pants.  The crowd was like the cast of the Dukes of Hazzard!!  Stayed to about 4am watching there dancing skills.  I thought I was a bad dancer until I saw this motley crew.
Sat 30.06 - Watched the Lions v Australia Rugby whilst sipping cheap wine then went down to the local Irish Bar, Dicey Reillys.  Nothing too Irish about it apart from Mossy, Claire and I.

Sun 01.07 - Went to Mass at 5pm and like any true Irish man went to the pub.  An Irish man was playing music, John Wilson.  He was good but made up words sometimes!  When he saw us singing along he said " I'd better be good now there are people here that know the words".  He came over to speak to us at a break.  He was originally from Bangor, Co Down but lived in Cookstown, Co Tryone for years.  He knew of Park. SHOCK!!!  He had sang with Gemma Hasson years ago he said.

His wife Catherine came to lift him.  She was from Belfast and was a typical townie.  She told us that they had come out 10 years ago and had settled in Donnybrook, 30 minutes drive from Bunbury.  She didnt miss home at all, but John tried to go home once every couple of years.
