Simples
Of cool sweet dew and radiance mild
The moon a web of silence weaves
In the still garden where a child
Gathers the simple salad leaves.

A moondew stars her hanging hair
And moonlight kisses her young brow
And, gathering, she sings an air:
Fair as the wave is, fair, art thou!

Be mine, I pray, a waxen ear
To shield me from her childish croon
And mine a shielded heart for her
Who gathers simples of the moon.

--- One of my all-time favourites by the amazing Irish author James Joyce, and, I believe, a suitable welcome to my personal space here on the web. Special as it is to me, it should give you an idea of what I'm like... My pages would be dedicated to Ireland, my absolute favourite country in this world (although I am not Irish myself), but it is so hard fitting the culture, people, drinks, music and everything I love about it into one homepage... To try and make up for some of that, I will share with you poems and music that I love and some things that amuse me. A little Irish blessing on the way:

As you slide down the banister of life,
may the splinters never point in the wrong direction.
