These online bibles are good for when you're online, but in my opinion nothing beats holding the Real Thing in your hands and reading it that way. I've just ordered this Bibleand will give my impressions of it when itarrives.
|
Blue Letter Bible -[ONLINE]- commentaries, maps, study aids, devotionals, 12 translations, and loads of audio/video archived files linked to the verses to which they apply.
Bible In A Year -[ONLINE]- Crosswalk.com offers several translations and some I would consider interpretations of the Bible on their site... along with a schedule that, if followed will get you through the Bible in a Year.
e-sword - [DOWNLOAD]- Amazing, and free downloadable Bible with several translations available, a wealth of downloadable commentaries and study aids/tools. It's free and beats all the Bible software I've used, including some I paid for, when it comes to ease of use, and features.
- Bible Study Sites
-
These are Bible study sites that I think look promising. I have taken some down that I didn't agree with their theology.
Bible Gateway - I'm here daily. They've got a very nice Bible in a Year reading schedule that I'm using to track my reading.
Daily Bible Study - I haven't done any of these yet, but they look promising.
Bible-study-free - I haven't taken these yet so I can't say anything about them yet.
Spreading Light Ministries - Great courses and very friendly folks.
Bible Stories for Adults - I haven't done these yet either, wow... looks like I've got some work ahead of me.
Bible Basics - This site has nice information about the books, testaments, and even word definitions and pronunciations.
A Bible Timeline - There's some discussion about how correct the dates are or are not. But for getting a feel for where the Bible stories fit in with what's going on in the rest of the world it's a nice tool. (Timetables of History is a must have for any serious Bible student.)
- Radio Shows
-
I was a fan of talk radio before I was a fan of Christian Radio. Part of the transition from talk radio to Christian music was through the Christian Talk Radio. Here are my favorites.
Answers in Genesis - I don't get to catch this show often enough. I like it when I am able to catch it though.
Adventures in Odyssey - It's aimed at kids, but it's entertaining. It's like the OTR Radio Dramas. I recommend listening to them on the radio... if you find one you like they're available for sale here.
Turning Point - David Jeremiah is one of my favorite people to listen to. I trust him and his discussions on the Bible.
- Apologetics Sites
-
Apologetics is, according to m-w, "a branch of theology devoted to the defense of the divine origin and authority of Christianity."
Apologetics Press
Apologetics
Apologetics Index
- Christian Music
-
I like Christian music and get 'in the mood' for it when I'm tired of the negative, depressing, or vulgar music that gets most of the play on the radio. This is my feel-good music.
Newsboys - My favorite contemporary christian music group. Here's a list of their CD's that are available.
Apologetix - Described as the Weird Al of christian music I think people sometimes think they're going to be funny... They take today's music from mainstream radio, and change the lyrics to Christian ones. Go here, buy one and fall in love.
- Humor
-
Not a lot of people see Christians as having a sense of humor, but I do and sometimes an irreverant laugh at ourselves is a healthy thing.
Landover Baptist Church - Some folks aren't sure how far it's ok to take humor and religion. I don't know the answer to that, but I know this site makes me laugh.
Betty Bowers - Just like the link above. I laugh and laugh.
