| This week I have some simple tips to start organizing your home office. There are some things you will need: 1. A filing system: This can be a filing cabinet with hanging folders or an accordian file. 2. A box or tray for mail etc. (I prefer something that hangs on the wall, because it takes up less space.) Once you have these items it's easy to stay organized. When you get mail and other paper that you don't want to deal with right then and there, just put them in the tray and stick a post-it on it with a date a week from that day. All that week you can pile things in there if you want to. But, once the day on the post-it comes, you have to file all these items accordingly. Again, schedule this like you'd schedule an appointment with a client. Once you get started it'll get easier, and you'll see that sometimes you won't even need to work on it weekly because you've filed everything right away! Next week, I'll tell you what to do with your filing system... See you then! |
