...In few Simple Words...

...I've made this page for people who would like to know about the man behind UAE...
...The man who made us belive that Dreams Come True...

His Highness,
Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahayan

Since it’s foundation in 1971, the United Arab Emirates has been fortunate to being guided by one man. Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahayan.

Sheikh Zayed was born around 1918; he is the youngest of four sons of Sheik Sultan bin Zayed Al Nahayan. He was named after his grandfather Sheikh Zayed bin Khalifa, who ruled the emirate from 1855 to 1909, the longest reign in the Emirates history.

His personal knowledge of the desert and its people was crucial factor in the success of his work, which was to lead, eventually, to the discovery of one of the worlds largest oil reservoirs.

At the time Sheikh Zayed was born, the Emirates was poor and undeveloped with an economy primary based on fishing and pearl diving. His life even as a young member of a ruling family was simple. His education was based on studying the instructions and the principles of Islam from the local preacher. His transportation was either on camels or boats.

From 1920 to 1930, Zayed seeked for knowledge that made him go out in the desert with the bedu tribe men to learn all he could about the way of life the people and the environment in which they lived. In 1946, he was chosen as the ruler representative in Alain, he was greeted with widespread approval by the local who were already familiar with Zayed and his commitment to improving the lives of his people.

Before being a president Sheikh Zayed has achieved many things like stimulating the local economy which was largely based on agriculture. He also ordered the planting of ornamental trees that made Alain one of the greenest cities in Arabia.

In 1953 Sheikh Zayed made his first visit abroad, to Britain and France. Impressed by the school and hospitals he visited, he became determined that his own people should have the benefit of similar facilities. Sheikh Zayed succeeded in bringing progress to Alain. personally funding the first modern school in emirate. At that days he also abandoned the gun for falconry aware that hunting with a gun could lead to extinction of the wild life.

While he was developing in Alain Sheik Shakhbut the elder brother for Sheikh Zayed and the president of Abu Dhabi has been asked by the royal family Al Nahayan to step down and leave the leadership to his brother Zayed. And that’s because the records of Sheikh Zayed over the previous 20 years in Alain and his population among the people made him the obvious choice as a leader.

On the 6th of August 1966 Zayed Became the President. Building schools, houses, hospital and roads were one of his achievements after being a president. And as Abu Dhabi started to develop he turned his attention to the building closer relationship with the other emirates. At the end of 1971 he and the leader ruler of Dubai Sheikh Rashid Al Maktoum, took the lead in calling for a federation that would include not only the seven emirates, but also Qatar and Bahrain (which then chose to keep their position).

By this Sheikh Zayed leads his fellow rulers in agreement to the creation of UAE. Which formally came up to the international stage on the 2nd of December 1971.
