Cellar Door and Farm Gate Guide to
the Sensational Flavours of Tasmania
Tasmania’s 2003-2004 Cellar Door and Farm
Gate Guide introduces the very best of the island State’s fine
wine and fresh produce. If wining and dining is
your passion, this guide will give you all the information
you need to discover the source of our delicious fresh
produce and food-friendly vintages. Tasmania’s long,
sunny days and cool climate allow the slow ripening of its
pinot noir, chardonnay and aromatic grape varieties, and
ensure distinctive, full-flavoured wines.
The Guide
lists wine and food experiences by region, with each region
accompanied by a user-friendly location
map. In addition, this year’s guide includes a list of Australian
Gourmet Traveller recommended Tasmanian restaurants and
a calendar of key Tasmanian wine and food annual events. Pick
up a copy at Visitor Information Centres and travel
centres around the State.

Unprecedented International Recognition for Tasmania
Tasmania has exceeded all expectations at this
year’s World’s Best Awards conducted by North America’s top-selling
holiday magazine Travel + Leisure.
Readers voted Tasmania the best island in Australia,
New Zealand and the South Pacific – a gong that ultimately
ranked Tasmania as the second most popular island destination
in the world.
In its regional category, Tasmania was placed
ahead of destinations like Fiji, Tahiti, the Great Barrier
Reef islands, New Caledonia, Cook Islands and Vanuatu.
Overall, Tasmania has been ranked second behind
only Bali – by less than one point – and ahead of other internationally
recognised holiday hot-spots including Maui, Hawaii and Sicily.
Tasmania’s diversity and unique attributes
have set it apart not only from the rest of Australia
and the South Pacific, but from conventional destinations such
as Hawaii and Moorea as well.
In its own description of Tasmania, Travel
+ Leisure said the State was earning a reputation for
a mix of luxury and adventure.
