| Chapter 25 ******* Chris wears himself out, being the extraordinarily hyper guy he is. Joey had gone out honey-hunting and was extremely fatigued. Justin had cried enough to last him a lifetime and was undeniably tired. And Lance, Lance was naturally a heavy sleeper. JC, on the other hand, was not having a good night. After putting his latest song to rest for a while, he slept for a few hours. He woke up around midnight when he heard clattering in the kitchen. At first, he thought it might have been a burglar, but then he heard Margot humming quietly to herself downstairs. He attempted sleep, on and off, for the next hour and a half but it just didnt work. Mr. Sandman wanted to be difficult tonight. At a quarter to two, when JC was finally drifting off again, his ears filled with a soft melody that he normally would have appreciated, but tonight, he was trying to sleep. He covered his head with every pillow within a two-foot radius of him and tried to block the noise out. He wasnt very successful. After fifteen more minutes of staring into the darkness above him, he mumbled obscenities to himself as he crept out of bed. First, he visited the kitchen. Seeing that nothing was there, not counting a small blue plate on the counter, he continued his trek down to the recording studio. When he turned on the ceiling light, he noticed a few CDs in disarray. JC walked closer and also noticed a few CDs missing. He shrugged, assuming someone must have wanted to borrow them. He soon walked out of the studio and found himself in front of the door to the dance studio. He pressed his ear against the obstructive door and heard the opening chords to Mariah Careys Vision of Love. A curious expression washed over his face as he ever so quietly pushed the door open. Nothing could have ever prepared him for the sight he was about to see. Several CD cases lay scattered about the floor. An empty blue plate, similar to the one he saw on the kitchen counter sat undisturbed next to the boom box. And a large gray sweatshirt lay haphazardly in the back of the room. None of these things mattered though; it was the creature standing alone in the middle of the room that held his attention. She wore a small black tee shirt and red pajama pants cuffed at the bottoms. Her loosely curled hair freely surrounded her flushed face. And her emerald eyes seemed to burn holes through themselves as she stared at her reflection in the mirror. As the music got louder, her arms swirled around her and her knees collapsed, bringing her to the ground exactly at the notes stopped flowing from the stereo. When the beats began, Margot danced her heart out and JC watched every move, mouth hanging open. Treated me kind Sweet destiny Carried me through desperation To the one that was waiting for me It took so long Still I believed Somehow the one that I needed Would find me eventually I had a vision of love And it was all that you've given to me Margot had always loved this song. She always felt as if she could relate to every word Mariah sang. Now, the words fit to her situation perfectly. Except she wasnt in love with JC, she simply adored him and would be forever grateful to the force that brought them together. Prayed through the nights Felt so alone Suffered through alienation Carried the weight on my own Had to be strong So I believed And now I know I've succeeded In finding the place I conceived I had a vision of love And it was all that you've given to me I had a vision of love And it was all that you've given me JC didnt know how Margot couldnt have seen him by now. The door was so wide open; it was practically off its hinges. Every wave of her arm, every kick of her leg, every jolt of her hip pulled him in further and further. Hed never seen Margot dance before tonight. He knew, from a prior conversation that dancing was her first love, but never did he expect her to showcase such passion for it. She was remarkable. Every aspect of Margot was just remarkable. I've realized a dream And I visualized The love that came to be Feel so alive I'm so thankful that I've received The answer that heaven has sent down to me You treated me kind Sweet destiny And I'll be eternally grateful Holding you so close to me Prayed through the nights So faithfully Knowing the one that I needed Would find me eventually Just as Mariahs voice became amazingly forceful, Margots dancing brought itself to another level. She spun with an energy hed never seen before. She leaped with a vigor he never thought her capable of. And her eyes, her eyes sent bolts of electricity throughout the entire room. It nearly bounced off the corners of the studio and shocked JC in the process. I had a vision of love And it was all that you've given to me I had a vision of love And it was all that you turned out to be As the song wound down to a close, Margots almost pained expression morphed back to neutrality and she found her way back to the center of the room. While the last note flowed through the speakers, her body gracefully melted down to the wooden floor. Her slouched back rose and fell quickly, obviously gasping for the air lost in those last three and a half minutes of raw fervor. His chest rose and fall just as quickly, completely in awe of the woman sitting a few feet away from him. JC was about to say something to her when he remembered she hadnt meant for it to be a viewed performance. He backed away from the threshold, shut the door as quietly as he could and tiptoed his way back up to his room. Once in the solace of his bed, he breathed for the first time in what seemed like hours and relaxed, happy Margot had neither seen nor heard him. But thats where he was wrong. Margot had heard him close the door. She just wasnt quite sure which him shed heard. She did, however, have a very good idea. |
